Students will be able to use questions from teachers and classmates about their writing to add (or remove) details as necessary. Materials: 1. ELMO 2. Journey’s Teacher Edition page T23 3. Projectable 6.1 4. October Journals 5. Writing utensils Procedure (1 of 1): 1. Display projectable on the ELMO 2. Introduce activity by telling students that you will be working on writing sentences that describe today 3. Discuss with students the sentences about a rainy day a. Highlight adjectives looks, feels, sounds 4. Complete the “talk about it” portion as a large group 5. Tell students that they are going to write a sentence that describes today in their October Journals. 6. On the board, write: “It is fall. What is the weather like in the Fall? How does it look, feel, and sound outside?” 7. Reiterate that sentences have a beginning capital letter, end punctuation, spaces, and are a complete thought. 8. In the large group, brainstorm/model how to complete this day’s writing. Support Write the sentence prompt for students in their journals. Have them add their sentence completion. Write

Materials:

1. ELMO2. Journey’s Teacher Edition page T233. Projectable 6.14. October Journals5. Writing utensils

Procedure (1 of 1):

1. Display projectable on the ELMO2. Introduce activity by telling students that you will be working on writing

sentences that describe today3. Discuss with students the sentences about a rainy day

a. Highlight adjectives looks, feels, sounds4. Complete the “talk about it” portion as a large group5. Tell students that they are going to write a sentence that describes today in

Add lines for each word and a period on students’ journal page.Extension Challenge students to write 2 sentences that describe the same topic. Assessment Teacher observation and the writer’s checklist with adjectives added.
