Summary of the programs Eco-school cultural tradition program is a part of anumbrella programs of SMK Wikrama Bogor in implementing education for suistanable development, since 2005. The goal of this programs is to develop school culture with green and sustainable modern civilization on the basis of Indonesia cultural tradition. Based on ASP-Net’s frame, this program consists of 5 aspects, namely (1) oral tradition and expressions, for example Sundanese language class, Sundanese greeting, Wednesday’s Sundanese compulsory speaking;(2) Performing arts, for examples pencak silat traditional martial art, angklung,degung traditional music, and percussion; (3) Social practices, ritual and festive events, for examplesmutual community work (gotong-royong), a social capital district gathering (kumpul rayon), healthy traditional indonesian food, wearing traditional costumes during women’s day celebration;(4) knowledge and practices concerning natures and universe, for examples competence based training on environment, fun-loving boy scout; (5) Traditional craft manship, for example recycled paper for puppets, weaving, knitting.

3. Background information or reasons why the school created this programme

School’s quality learning requires comprehensive character education. This aspect addresses many thoughts in education while developing a positive school climate, includes transformation of school culture, reducing discipline referrals, increasing academic achievement, developing global citizens, and improving job satisfaction. All share a commitment to help young people to be responsible, caring and contributing citizens. However, this success needs sustainable approach that respect to socio-cultural tradition’s maters as well as future environmental development maters. It could be achieved effectively through eco-school cultural tradition program. The major impact of this program is safeguarding cultural traditions.

4. Objectives/goals of the programme The goals of this programs is to develop school culture with green action and sustainable modern civilization base on the Indonesia cultural tradition.
