Leadership and managementThe effectiveness of safeguarding practice, including keeping pupils safe from the dangers of abuse, sexual exploitation, radicalisation and extremism, and what the school does when it suspects that pupils are vulnerable to these issues.

Safeguarding is effective. Leaders and managers have created a culture of vigilance where pupils’ welfare is actively promoted. Pupils are listened to and feel safe. Staff are trained to identify when a pupil may be at risk of neglect, abuse or exploitation and they report their concerns. Leaders and staff work effectively with external partners to support pupils who are at risk or who are the subject of a multi-agency plan.Leaders’ work to protect pupils from radicalisation and extremism is exemplary. Leaders respond swiftly where pupils are vulnerable to these issues. High quality training develops staff’s vigilance, confidence and competency to challenge pupils’ views and encourage debate.

Expect appropriate staff to have an understanding of the factors that make people vulnerable to being drawn into terrorism and to challenge extremist ideas.Such staff should have sufficient training to be able to recognise this vulnerability and be aware of what action to take in response. Risk Assessment to demonstrate risk based approach to compliance. Appropriate policies for use of prayer facilities Staff have training that gives them the knowledge and confidence to identify ‘children’ at risk of being drawn into terrorism and to challenge extremist ideas. They should know where and how to refer young people for further help.Training to include Governors, leaders and staff.
