Dewan Public School International FUN & FROLIC VOL: 1 Session 2019-20 April-May2019 Welcome to the first edition of „Fun & Frolic‟ the Newsletter of the new session 2019-20 of Elementary Section by Dewan Public School International, Meerut. It is a matter of great pride to speak to you through this letter. Children are like the petals of young flowers. Every morning I see their innocent faces and I observe the tenacity of their bright future in their shinning eyes. It is up to us as teachers to nurture good values in students. We wish to mould our children in such a way so that they turn out to be perfect human beings. Welcome to the first edition of „Fun & Frolic‟ the

Newsletter of the new session 2019-20 of Elementary

Section by Dewan Public School International, Meerut. It

is a matter of great pride to speak to you through this

letter. Children are like the petals of young flowers. Every

morning I see their innocent faces and I observe the

tenacity of their bright future in their shinning eyes. It is up

to us as teachers to nurture good values in students. We

wish to mould our children in such a way so that they turn

out to be perfect human beings.

Graduation day Before the commencement of new session, graduation Day was

celebrated on march 26, 2019 in which the KG students were

honoured with degree and sash. The program started with the

dance by the elementary students. Some students shared their

feelings.It was a special day for children, a day filled with mixed

feelings where they they leave behind their loved teachers and

move ahead to dream big and several hopes & aspirations

Health Day Kids celebrated the World Health Day on April 7, 2017

enthusiastically. All classes did different activities. Pre- Nursery Kids

coloured the pictures that demonstrated Healthy habits. Nursery kids

enjoyed making collage of healthy tooth and decayed tooth.

Students of class KG did cutting and pasting of healthy food and junk

food on healthy tooth and decayed tooth respectively.

Baisakhi The Festival of Baisakhi is considered to be an extremely

important festival in India for number of reasons. Apart from

being important for the farmers as a harvest festival, the festival is

of prime importance in Sikhism as a foundation day of Khalsa

Panth. Our Children were made aware about this festival and

they enjoyed making a Baisakhi craft.

EASTER Easter Sunday is celebrated as the

day of Jesus Christ‟s resurrection.

The children were shown the video

of Easter story. The teacher

explained the story from crucifixion

of Jesus to resurrection of Jesus.

The kids enjoyed colouring egg,

chick and bunny as symbol of

new life.

EARTH DAY Earth day is the day that is intented to extend awareness for the

Earth‟s natural environment. It is celebrated globally on April 22,

every year. The center theme is that we all can build the future

of earth in coming years.

The old practices of using energy and waste management have

to be rediscovered in a new way to save the natural balance of

the earth.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION Last working day of every month is celebrated in a special way.

The children whose birthday fall in that particular month, their

birthday celebration finds an expression on that day.

In the month of April the students were supposed to come in red

colour clothes and in the month of May the students of Pre-

Nursery, Nursery and KG were supposed to come in red, yellow

and blue colour clothes respectively.

They enjoyed the birthday party as the birthday cake was cut

and served to all.

MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION Mother's Day is celebrated to honor all mothers and express

gratitude for the hardships they bear in bringing up a child. It is

celebrated every year on the second Sunday in the month of

May to honour mothers as well as to respect motherhood. This

auspicious day was celebrated in DPSI on May 11, 2019 a day

before the Mother‟s day. Mothers were especially invited to

spend a memorable day filled with fun and activities. Pool game

like “Finding Fanny, just a minute, tongue twisters etc. were also

organized for mothers. The celebration ended with all mothers

and children enjoying themselves and taking back fond

memories of a day well spent.

Events of the Month

Jolly Phonics Workshop Two day workshop was conducted in dewan public school

International, Bulanshahr on March 18, 19, 2019. The workshop

was conducted by Ms. Neeti S. Nagarkar, a certified Jolly

Phonics Professional Trainer from UK. Teachers from Meerut

school also attended the workshop. She taught the teachers

about Phonetics, coding, segmenting along with new methods

and activities to teach grammar so that children understand

English language easily.

Parent orientation Parent orientation was held on April 20, 2019 to make parents

aware about the best teaching and learning environment,

emphasize on value system and Jolly phonics- a well known

methodology for teaching English at the preprimary and primary

level.

Mock Election An activity was held to make children aware about Elections in

India. Selected students were alloted party name & symbol.They

were asked to prepare agenda for party and later to prepare

manifesto. They went to classes to explain their manifesto a day

before the activity. All children voted to the suitable member as

per their manifesto and choice on the ballot paper.

After that counting was done and the result was declared.

Lemon Party Lemon party was held on May 3, 2019 in DPSI. Children were

made aware about the benefits of lemon and lemonade.

Lemonade making demonstration was also done by the

teacher. Lemonade was enjoyed by all the students and

teachers.

Health Checkup

Health checkup of the students of the entire school was

conducted from May 09 to May 15, 2019. The doctors team from

Digi Looks Health Care Private Limited came and examined

teeth, ears, eyes, weight, height and general Health of the

students. They all will be given a comprehensive report stating

BMR, height, weight, vision and any illness or short coming about

their health.

First Day of the Session 2019-20 First day of the school is unforgettable. All the students were

taken for a school tour including visit to Principal office, music,

computer lab, library etc. They did number of activities on the

first day. The day was fun filled.

CLASSES: Pre Nursery, Nursery & KG

PROJECT: All About Me

Unit of inquiry in the form of project for this month was ‘All About

Me’.

As the session started, settling down activities in all classes were

done to make children feel comfortable in the school.

Then the children were acquainted about their body, its parts,

how to take care of personal health & hygiene, their family and

school. Keeping your body & environment clean is an important

part of keeping oneself healthy. The teaching level of the project

was according to the class level. KG kids learnt about internal

organs and sense organs through various activities.

Caring about the way you look is important to your self esteem,

was told to students. This topic gave them ideas on looking their

best. Brushing teeth, washing hands, combing hair, wearing

clean clothes are some of the activities which were stressed

upon. They were taught through group activities, rhymes, craft

videos, enactment, conversation etc. The academic activities

too were associated with the projects.

SUB PROJECT: Summer Season

Summer is the hot season. The bright

sun shines. The students were informed

that this season brings bright & longer

days. Summer is associated with life,

birth & revival. Kids were acquainted

with summer fruits, vegetables, flowers,

drinks, clothing, activities etc.

They were made aware about the

do‟s and don‟ts for summer season.

By following some handy tips one

can enjoy summer.

Sensorial Activities Sensorial comes from the word senses. The child is able to concentrate on

the refinement of all his senses, from visual to stereognostic. The purpose

of sensorial work is for the child to acquire clear information and be able

to then make classifications in his environment.

English Pre Nursery: Tiny toddlers learnt to introduce themselves. They were made

aware of the sounds they hear in the environment. They were

acquainted with the sound they come across in their daily

routine. They learnt the sounds s, a, t, i, p and to associate them

with pictures of that sound. They learnt the rhymes in English. We

are also working to enhance their listening skills by storytelling

and through videos.

Nursery: Conversation in this class revolved around “My Self” &

“Summer Season”. They were able to recognize some sounds &

were able to associate them with the given pictures. They learnt

how to write different patterns. Pre writing skills helped them to

write properly. They were able to trace & write sounds s, a, t, i, p,

n. Montessori activities helped them to write in a proper way.

Various activities like storytelling, watching videos improved their

listening skills.

KG: Our kids in class KG conversed about “My Self” & “Summer

Season”. They were able to speak sentences confidently about

these topics. Recap was done to write A - Z and a- z. They learnt

to write three letter words. They were able to code and decode

three letter words. Montessori activities had given a helping

hand to read and write the sounds and word in a proper way.

Their vocabulary was enhanced by using the words from word

list in their daily conversation.

Hindi Pre Nursery: They learnt to speak correctly without stuttering.

They were able to recite rhymes.

Nursery: They learnt to speak properly and recite poems. They

could recognize some fruits & tell their names in Hindi.

KG: Children of this class progressed with writing of vyanjans.

They were able to write the first akshar of the picture. They were

able to read and write two letter words in Hindi. They also learnt

the names of some fruits in Hindi.

Number Work

Pre Nursery: Their number skills were honed by pre number

activities. They could match corresponding pictures. They could

sort the colour & shape. They were able to differentiate

between big & small objects. They were introduced to numbers 1

& 2. They could associate numbers to the quantities. They learnt

all this through games, rhymes, Montessori & other activities.

Nursery: The kids were able to count numbers up to 10 orally.

They had learnt to write numbers 1-5 after doing various pre

number activities. Cards & counter helped them to associate

numbers with quantity. They could match & sort the objects of

circle & triangle shape along with red & yellow colour.

KG: The children learnt to write numbers 1-50 in sequence and

backward counting 20-1. They were able to speak numbers 1-

100 in sequence. They could form quantities up to 50. They learnt

the concept of after, between & before, biggest& smallest

number and concept of more /less. The Montessori activities

helped them in learning the concept of ten.

Art & Craft

Creativity is as natural and necessary for children as fresh air and

sunshine! By exposing children to creative experiences, we give

them the gift of a rich and memorable childhood while laying

the foundation of creative expression for a lifetime.

Children did various activities of colouring and craft work. They

all enjoyed a lot in these creative activities.

Music & Movement Music has a great effect on human mind and heart. It

rejuvenates emotions in human heart. It leaves an indelible mark

on human mind. It is a kind of food to a tired mind.

Our children love to dance & sing.

Games & Recreation

Games are important in every walk of life. They help to build a

good physique. They also make children mentally alert and

physically strong. Games are the important means of recreation.

Kids spend some time in outdoor games and activities. This

month our children participated in relay race, chimpanzee race,

alphabet race & monkey race
