The purpose of this presentation is to introduce students to the Dewey Decimal Classification System and how to apply it in their learning.

MELVIL DEWEYMelville Louis Kossuth Dewey was born on December
10, 1851 in New York state.
Melvil Dewey invented the Dewey Decimal Classification system when he was twenty-one years old.
This was a revolution in library science.
Melvil died after suffering a stroke on December 26, 1931 at the age of eighty.
We still use his system for classification today.
WHERE IS THE DEWEY NUMBER? The Dewey
number is locate located on the binding of
the book. The first three lett letters are of the author’s
last name.
