President’s Letter

Dear Dulaney Community: Thanks for reading our newsletter! Like the rest of the school community, your PTSA is hard at work this winter, serving the school in different ways. Join us at any monthly meeting to learn more, share your thoughts, or get involved. Our next meeting will be on February 27 at 7pm in the school library. We can always use more volunteers; see the “Current PTSA Volunteer Opportunities” section in this newsletter for details. Students planning to take the SAT on March 9 should consider the February one-day SAT prep class offered at Dulaney by our new PTSA partner, The Answer Class. It will be held on February 9 from 9:00-5:30. Here's the link to register or get more information. The early-bird discount is available if you register by Feb-ruary 2! Classes will also be held in April and May, so check the info below and mark your calendar. The location is convenient, the prices are very reasonable, and your PTSA benefits from every registration.

Finally, we still need your help to reach our fundraising target. Our goal this year is to reach a total of $17,000 in Lions Share donations, and we're not there yet, so please help if you can. Here's the link to join or donate. Thanks for all you do to make Dulaney a great school for all of us. Sue Battle-McDonald PTSA President [email protected]

County Executive Olszewski and Councilman Kach

Fasig-Tipton Building

Maryland State Fairgrounds

2200 York Road

Timonium, Maryland 21093

This event will include a presentation from the County Executive on the budget and offer

an opportunity for residents to meaningfully engage with the County Executive on the is-

sues that matter most to them.

The 11th annual Think Pink Women’s Basketball game is on Feb. 1st. JV is at 4:00 and Varsity is at 5:30. All the proceeds go to Susan G. Komen Foundation. T-shirts are being sold during lunches and at the game for $12. Concessions will be sold as well as a bake sale during the game. This year teachers volunteered to get pied in the face to raise money. It is a raffle so if your name gets drawn then you get to pie the teacher you chose at half-time of the game. Also dance team is performing at halftime.

The Winter Formal dance is on Feb. 9th. The winter formal is a

smaller dance with only 400 tickets being sold. Ticket sales will start

Monday January 28th. Tickets are $15 for the first week of sales then the

price will increase to $20 for the second week. Guest tickets can be pur-

chased during the second week with the proper forms that can be picked

up by Rm. 323. The dance will have catered food from Greene Turtle

and Karaoke. We have a 2 parent chaperones and 4 teacher chaperones

and need about 3 more parent chaperones. All of the parent chaperones

will be running coat check. This year the SGO Executive Board decided

to have a themed dance where people dress to a theme. The theme this

year is 80s. if interested in chaperone, please email Victoria Bracken

at [email protected] or Stacy Reynolds at [email protected]

We strongly encourage par-

Moving? Need boxes?

P A G E 7

Do you know someone who

is moving? Do you need a

product that will perform the

same as bubble wrap? The

Environmental issues club has

created “moving boxes” that

can be used to pack fragile

items. These repurposed pa-

per boxes from the copy

rooms are filled with padding

that measure 12in. by 6in.

and were used to ship and

protect student computers.

This repurposing of the pad-

ding and boxes supports the

Green Schools goal of waste

reduction.

Email [email protected] to

access free moving boxes.

Help us form a new "Devices in Schools" committee to follow issues associated with the assigned BCPS devices, and also to consider related issues such as health implications, research relating to device usage for education, and options for limiting cellphone usage during the school day. 2. 2019 GRAD GALA

Dear Class of 2019 Parents

Where have the days gone? Didn't it seem just like yesterday, we were anxiously dropping off

our seniors to preschool or kindergarten. The Class of 2019 seemed so far off in the distant

future. Now, here we are mentoring our seniors as they prepare for the next stage of life.

These next several months will provide countless memories that our seniors will cherish for a

lifetime. A lifetime that we don't want to see cut short for any of our DHS seniors. Statistics

show a third of all teen traffic fatalities occur between April and June, the peak of prom sea-

son.

A group of parents have come together to plan, fundraise and coordinate the Class of 2019

Grad Gala to prevent the Dulaney community from being a part of any staggering statistics.

The Grad Gala is an alcohol and drug-free event that immediately follows the senior prom on

Saturday, May 18 and provides a safe and welcoming environment for our children and each

of their guests to continue celebrating with music, dancing, games, food and fun with a

chance to win some valuable prizes. This year's event takes place at the Timonium Fairgrounds

Exhibition Hall beginning at 11:30 p.m. on May 18 and continuing to 2:30 a.m. the morning of

May 19. The celebration needs your assistance to be a success. Here are a few ways you can

help today:

1. Make a tax-deductible donation. This event is completely funded through the generosity of our community. 2. Volunteer to plan, fundraise or help out the night of the event. Contact Kristi Kresslein and Beverly Weller at [email protected] to learn more. 3. Attend one of our upcoming restaurant fundraising nights. Please see the included flyer. 4. Help us sell our March Madness $10 raffle tickets with a different winner each day during the month of March. Contact Melissa Whatley at [email protected] 5. Join the Class of 2019 Parents Facebook page to keep up with the latest news and infor-mation as we prepare our seniors for graduation.

Sincerely,

Linda Frederick and Samantha Boellner
