PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

HUNTER DANCE

The girls performed beautifully on Tuesday night. It was an absolutely huge day with rehearsals at Wests Newcastle, followed by the performance that night. The girls should be congratulated on their performance and were model students for the entire event. A sincere thank you to the parents that volunteered to assist with transport and to Mrs Hellier for taking on the girls for this event and rehearsing for the past week. A special mention to Kaitlin R. who performed in the Elite Troupe for Hunter Dance on Monday. They will most likely have the opportunity to attend State Dance later in the year.

ZONE ATHLETICS

Unfortunately, due to bad weather, Zone Athletics has been postponed until next week on Tuesday 6 August and Wednesday 7 August. We wish all of our students attending good luck!

STATE CROSS COUNTRY

A huge congratulations to our five school representatives who competed at Eastern Creek last Friday. The effort and achievements of these students were amazing and goes to show how very talented the students at our small school are.

NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY

Good luck to Harry and Emerson who have both qualified to represent NSW at the National Cross Country Championships in Wollongong on August 23. This is an amazing achievement and very well deserved.

EDUCATION WEEK, BOOK WEEK & GRANDPARENTS SPECIAL DAY

The children are looking forward to our Book Week Parade, where they will all have the opportunity to show off their costumes at the parade. We will also be inviting our pre-schoolers and siblings to join in. The theme for Book Week for 2019 is:

Please note our parade has been pushed back by 30 minutes and will commence at 10am. After the parade we will invite our visitors to come into the classroom to read a book and have a look at some student work samples. You may then wish to visit the Scholastic Book Fair in the hall, where books and stationary will be available for purchase. Parents and grandparents are welcome to stay for morning tea. Lamingtons, tea and coffee will be available for a gold coin donation for your guests.

OPEN CLASSROOM PLAYGROUP

Reminder: Tomorrow, Friday 2 August, our Kindy classroom will be open from 2-3pm to allow for any siblings, neighbouring families or friends that would like to come along and have a play in the classroom to familiarise themselves with our environment. This is a great opportunity to potentially meet other families also. Other opportunities for open classrooms will occur in Weeks 5 and 8.

PUBLIC SPEAKING

Zone Public Speaking will be held next week, with the following children representing their stages at locations across our region:

• Early Stage 1: Sophie M. Lyla N.

• Stage 1: Chloe R. Eden A.

• Stage 2: Lily R. Maili P.

• Stage 3: Grace H. Kaitlin R.

YEAR 5/6 CANBERRA EXCURSION

The next instalment of $50.00 is due tomorrow, Friday 2 August, for this excursion. Prompt payment would be appreciated.

LIVING SMART FESTIVAL

We will be entering a stall in the upcoming Festival and require donations of bread tags to create a sign for the stall. Tags can be left at the school office. Thank you.

GARDEN STALL

We will be holding a garden stall this afternoon. Produce available includes kale, spinach, eggs, peas, cauliflower, broccolli and mandarines. Come along and grab a bargain.

P&C NEWS

The next P&C meeting will be held on Tuesday 6 August at 6pm. All welcome.

Our Working Bee has been postponed to Friday 16 August due to the wet weather. If you are available to help out, even for just an hour, please come along and join us.
