Strathcona County’s population is now 92,490 – 65,475 residents live in Sherwood Park; 27,015 live in rural Strathcona (1,782 in small rural hamlets and 25,233 on farms and in country residential subdivisions). This is a 12.1-per-cent increase over the past five years. In comparison, Canada’s overall growth during the same period was 5.9 per cent; Alberta 10.8 per cent; Calgary 10.9 per cent, and Edmonton 11.2 per cent. • www.strathcona.ca/news Love your dog, license your dog ... by March 31 Did you know all dogs in Strathcona County are required to have a valid licence? If you have a dog licensed with the County, watch for your renewal notice arriving by mail in early March. The renewal deadline is March 31. The licence year runs from April 1 to March 31. A free “return to owner” is offered to each dog once per licence year. A current licence allows an enforcement officer to contact the owner to return the lost dog. This is an ideal opportunity for those who enjoy meeting new people, have a passion for helping others, and enjoy sharing life stories and experiences.
