Digipack Deconstruction Album Mylo Xyloto by Coldplay

Front CoverThe front cover of the digipak shows a random background created by a colour scheme of spray paints and electric/neon colour tones, this would be eye catching to the audience and also ‘on trend’ at time of release.

Coldplay wanted it to be an explosion of bright vivid colours as a counterpoint to the subdued colour palette of Viva La Vida (there last album.)

The overall background of the digipak shows a clear reference to graffiti this suggests that as the band has an alternative rock genre that they are trying to relate to the graffiti/messy stereotypes of teenagers.

The album name ‘Mylo Xyloto’ is written very large which stands out against the busy background.

The fact the band name ‘Coldplay’ is not written on the album cover suggests that the release of the album will create a lot of hype.

Inside sleeveThe theme of the busy/bright/neon background is used throughout, it is featured on the inside cover with the letters (still using the large capital bubble writing) M & X which is the first letter of each word of the album title.

Back CoverThe theme is still used throughout the digipak which follows the simplistic theme of retro and bright colours, the same bubble font is used throughout.

The song titles are clearly listed in the same bubble font used throughout.

The overall analysis of the Album cover I have researched gives the impression of a stylish and up-to-date band, evidence for this is that the design uses bright colours and has an up to date stylish appearance which is visible attractive.
