WELCOME TO THE DISRUPT 2019 CONFERENCE
30 years ago when the World Wide Web was invented, Sir Tim-Berners Lee could
not have imagined the impact his invention would have on the world as we know it.
At that point, it was largely used by scientists in academia. Four years later, on April
30, 1993, the European Organization for Nuclear Research put the web in the public
domain. That decision altered everything - from the way we communicate, to the
way we do things in the last quarter of the century.
The Africa Fintech Foundry, powered by Access Bank, aims to do the same as Sir
Tim Berners-Lee. We aim to help innovators harness the power of their innovations,
give them a platform to test and go to market, and provide them unparalleled
access to global financial, technology, business, and investor partner networks. We
aim to enable the move of brilliant, tested ideas into the market, and continually
disrupt the technological ecosystem in that process.

SESOSeso utilizes Blockchain to solve the lending challenges in emerging economies.
We build land registries to scale real estate markets. Our product is a software
solution for banks to digitize their loan creation process and portfolios to
efficiently provide capital. We aggregate land and credit data for our clients to
easily analyse risk during the lending process.
Through the platform, our clients (banks) can interact with property developers
to receive trusted homes to offer to customers, as well as generate contracts and
review land service providers, such as surveyors and valuers. These transactions
will develop a digital mortgage registry that can be queried to instantaneously
retrieve land information, and prevent banks from lending against the same
properties. We are confident our solution has the capabilities to unlock the trapped
capital throughout Africa, facilitating investments into the real estate industry.

KAOSHIKaoshi is a company that develops financial technologies to solve the
challenges faced by banks and financial institutions in emerging markets. Our
launch product is a peer-to-peer currency exchange platform, designed for
African banks to enable their customers send money out of Africa in a cheap
and convenient manner. This contrasts with the current experience marked by
expensive fees and hassle involved in processing foreign exchange to enable
such outward remittance. Foreign exchange is scarce in a lot of Sub-Saharan
African countries; thus, they are heavily regulated by the government, and
banks are unable to service retail remittances in Sub-Saharan Africa.
As a result of the above, consumers have resorted to informal channels like
exchanging money with friends, relatives, or even strangers in a bid to avoid
the high remittance costs. However, these channels are very risky, fragmented
and difficult to scale; therefore, Kaoshi has developed a peer-to-peer money
exchange platform that brings bank-level security to the informal money
exchange method of remittance in Africa.
Kaoshi’s platform allows users sending money in opposite directions to
exchange their currencies in a safe, easy, and organized manner, resulting in a
cheap and convenient international money transfer experience.
