Baptisms: Arrangements must be made by parents through the Rectory Office to schedule baptisms and arrange for Pre-Baptism classes. All parents expecting to baptize their first child are to attend Pre-Baptism classes.

Weddings: Arrangements should be made with a priest through the Rectory Office at least six months prior to the desired date. All couples must attend Pre-Cana classes which are normally scheduled in March.

Funerals:

у Єрусалим. Весь народ вітав Христа словами: "Осанна,

благословен, хто йде в ім’я Господнє." Люди стелили

свої одежі, діти кидали пальмове віття на дорогу, по якій

ступав Христос. Всі вітали Ісуса як Царя, Месію, який

визволить Ізраїльський народ від римських окупантів.

На згадку про цю Євангельську подію ми благословимо

вербні галузки і несемо їх до наших осель, як символ

того, що Христос і для нас є Царем, але як сам говорив:

"Царство моє не від цього світу" (Ів. 18: 36). Христове

Царство є Царством любові, милосердя, прощення, а всі

ми у тому Царстві не є рабами, але вільними,

люблячими синами і дочками, і успадковуємо це

Царство не тому, що ми Христа полюбили, а навпаки,

тому, що Він нас перший полюбив.

Zacchaeus - Bible & Catechism Study Group

St. Josaphat Parish has started a Bible Study and UGCC

Catechism Study Group. Our next meeting will be on

Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 6:30pm in the Men’s Club

Room. Participants will read, discuss and learn about Holy

Scripture and the Catechism of our Ukrainian Church. The

group is open to high school students through adults from

any and all parishes in the local area. Archdeacon Jeff will lead the group.

oday’s feast celebrates the arrival of Jesus at His final des-

tination: Jerusalem. As He entered the city, He was met by the

people bearing palm branches in their hands and acclaiming

Him as the King of Israel, who comes in the name of the Lord.

s we celebrate Palm Sunday, we are summoned to behold

our King. We are called to behold and acclaim Jesus as our

King not only as the one who comes to us riding on a colt on

this particular day. But as the one who comes to us in power

and glory unceasingly, in every Divine Liturgy, as we receive

the Holy Eucharist; in every Sacrament that we receive; in

every act of love and mercy that we perform; in every moment

that we become aware of His presence and recognize Him as

our King and God.

Servant – who comes to Jerusalem to suffer and die on the

cross for our sins and who invites us to pick up our crosses

daily and follow Him.

To honor our Blessed Mother in the month of May, our Cathedral

is privileged to host the first Pilgrim Icon of Our Lady of Fatima

recently commissioned by the World Apostolate of Fatima (Blue

Army) Byzantine Division, on Saturday, May 4th and Sunday,

May 5th with guest speaker, Catherine Moran, PHD, President of

the World Aposotolate of Fatima, Byzantine Division. More

information will be posted in next week’s bulletin regarding the

MEN’S CLUB MEETING

The next Men’s Club Meeting will be held Tuesday, May 7th at

7PM.

SPEND A HOLY HOUR WITH JESUS

Consider trying to make a Holy Hour during the Great Fast this

year. If it’s something you don’t usually find the time for, it’s a

great way to draw near to Jesus. Our lives are so busy that it’s

sometimes difficult to slow down and find time for prayer. It’s

nice to just be in His presence and be still; it’s a retreat from

the world. Our Cathedral is open after 9am Divine Liturgy

until 4pm during the week. You may sign up for a regular time

for one or more hours to pray before the very presence of our

Lord. Please see the binder in our vestibule to sign up.

What do you do during a Holy Hour? You can recite your

favorite prayers, read Scripture, pray the Jesus Prayer, the

Rosary or whatever prayerful devotion that suits you before

Our Lord. You can pray in thanksgiving, for others, your

needs, or just sit in silence, simply keeping Him company, just

as you would a dear friend and simply listen. In His presence,

our hearts are comforted, our souls are uplifted and our minds

are quieted. It is truly a gift to visit Jesus in this way. "The

time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best

time you will spend on earth. Each moment that you spend

with Jesus will deepen your union with Him and make your

soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in Heaven, and

will help bring about everlasting peace on earth,"- Blessed

ST. JOSAPHAT FESTIVAL

A few committee members have retired and will not

be able to assist in organizing certain activities for this

year’s festival which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24

& Sunday, Aug. 25. I thank these members for the

contribution they have provided for past festivals.

This means we need a few volunteers that join the committee

to lead one of the following activities:

a. Finance: organizing ticket sales, raffles, keeping record of

the budget, depositing money on the days of the festival.

b. Sponsors: approach sponsors and obtain confirmation of

their sponsorship (list available).

c. Advertising: widely advertise festival in media,

newspapers, radio etc., flyers, road signs.

Furthermore previous team leaders will assist in transferring

ST. ANTHONY’S CHAPEL NATIONAL SHRINE

IN PITTSBURGH, PA!

St. Josaphat Cathedral Parish will be having a one day

pilgrimage to St. Anthony’s Chapel National Shrine in

Pittsburgh, PA Sunday, August 17th, 2019 this year. St

Anthony’s Chapel is home to the largest collection of publicly

venerable Christian relics – 5,000 in total – in the world outside

of the Vatican. A bus will be available. For more information

ESTINA FRANZAK SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Students who are attending or are planning to attend Duquesne

University should be aware of the availability of the Estina

Franzak Perpetual Scholarship Fund. The Fund is intended to

benefit students of Ukrainian ethnicity in their studies at

Duquesne University. The amount of scholarship varies.

Scholarships are awarded on an academic year basis.

Recipients from prior years will be considered for renewal of

awards, provided that they demonstrate satisfactory academic

progress. For additional details please see your parish priest.

Applications must be submitted to the Education Board of St.

George Ukrainian Catholic Church by June 1st, 2019.

HELP SUPPORT DEMENTIA CAREGIVERS

The Alzheimer's Association is looking for a volunteer, or a

pair of volunteers, to serve as a support group facilitator for

our Parma area support groups that meet once a month at the

UH Parma Health Education Center. As a support group

facilitator you will provide a safe environment for caregivers,

family and friends to share feelings, needs and concerns,

develop a support system in an open gathering and exchange

practical information and solutions for those caring for persons

with dementia or cognitive impairment. Personal or

professional experience as a dementia caregiver, preferred, but

not required. Training provided. For more information

The Tamburitzans (formerly the Duquesne University

PASTORAL VISIT TO

SAINT JOSAPHAT CATHEDRAL

His Eminence Leonardo Sandri, Perfect of the

Congregation for the Oriental Churches will make

a short visit to St. Josaphat Cathedral on

Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 9am. Cardional Leonardo Sandri is an Argentine

Cardinal of the Catholic Church. He has been the

Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches since

June 2007 and a cardinal since November of that year. He

served in the diplomatic service of the Holy See from 1974 to

1991, in several overseas assignments including as permanent

observer of the Holy See before the Organization of American

States from 1989 to 1991, and in Rome as Substitute for General

Affairs in the Secretariat of State from 1977 to 1989.
