Disadvantages• May require several products

Array Based Data Replication

Advantages• SAN and recovery all-in-one

• Block-Level, both physical and virtual data can be replicated with same process

• Integration with many backup products like Netbackup

Disadvantages• Can be spendy

• May or may not quiesce data

• Lock-In

• Vendor features vary wildly

• Requires SAN experience

• Replication is often not compressed (high bandwidth requirements)

VMWare Site Recovery Manager

• Newly Announced at VMWorld 2007

• Integration with Array (and maybe host?) replication SAN vendors to automate recovery processes and make recovery process easy(ier)

• Not much info available now, ask again later!
