The COVID-19 crisis has changed the lives of all of us.We are facing a challenge that we can only overcometogether. Let's support each other across borders bytalking about our worries, hopes and ideas. MeetEU is an initiative established by Germantogether.eu volunteers. They use the free platformDiscord to connect volunteers across borders. In chatrooms we will meet regularly for one hour.There you can tell your story: How does COVID-19have an impact on your daily life, what is the situationin your country/hometown and how are you dealingwith the situation? Every person can live European solidarity by listeningto others from all over Europe and by showing them:We are in this together.

Go to:https://discordapp.com/registerYou first have to create an accountFill in your email address, usernameand a passwordClick Continue to finalise

Next, go to your inbox to verify youremail addressOpen the email by Discord and clickon Verify EmailOnce it is done, you will be able touse your Discord account

A Server on Discord refers to the chatroomwhere you talk to your communityTo join a server, it is easiest to receive an inviteURL from an administratorBut first, you open https://discordapp.com/ inyour browser

JOIN A DISCORD SERVER

On the top right coner, you may choosea language and Login into your accountAfter clicking Login, you are asked toprovide your email address andcorresponding passwordYou will then get to your (still) emptyaccount

On the left side, press the icon + toadd a server to your accountA pop-up window will open, clickJoin a server hereEnter your invite URL and pressJoinTo join MeetEU enter:https://discord.gg/YadEXKEYou successfully joined the server

Personalise your profile for how it looks toothers when you communicateNavigate to the icon User Settings on the bottomleft corner

CUSTOMISE YOUR ACCOUNT

Under My Account, you maynow change your avatar andusername by clicking Edit

Stroll through the menu onthe left to discover evenmore opportunities forcustomisation

To gain an overview of Discord, a fewwords about the interface

THE INTERFACE

The first column on the very left lets you navigatebetween servers, add new ones and return to HomeThe second column shows your text and voice channelsas well as their sub-channelsAt the bottom you return to Settings and may set a Status

The third and biggest column is your chatIt carries the name on top and ordersincoming messages chronologicallyIn the fourth column, you find the MemberList and each member's activity status

Type your message in the box to be featured on thefeed (max. 2,000 characters)Attach documents, images and videos via the icon +or via drag and dropExpress yourself by using GIFs and emojisDiscord allows you to pin messages as well asmention members by tagging them

You find the Chat Bar at the centrebottom of the screen

CHATTING

For voice messaging, (un)muteand (un)deafen yourself usingthe icons located to the left ofthe Chat Bar

You log out of thesession by clickingon User Settings,stroll down themenu until youreach Log Out
