History, tradition and present times

The history of our company began when

Heinrich Franck, an Austrian, opened the

”Heinrich Franck & Sons” Coffee Surrogate

Factory in Skawina.

The production of roasted and ground chicory

started in 1911, in the very same place where

the company headquarter is located today. Since

its inception, the company has undergone

numerous transformations, and in 1999 finally

became part of the German Cafea Group.

About our ingredients

In Europe, the practice of roasting and preparing beverages with chicory root

began as early as the 16th century. The brew made from roasted cereals and

chicory was strongly believed to have a positive effect on human health. Today,

the tradition of drinking such beverages is still alive. However, they can now be

consumed in the form of a soluble powder.

• Cereals: form the basis of a healthy diet, as they contain fibre, vegetable

protein, and carbohydrates. The ingredients we use for our beverages are

roasted, which brings out their coffee-like taste and aroma.

• Roots: not only have a characteristic, coffee-like flavour, which is released

when they are roasted, but they are also a rich source of many additional

substances. For example, chicory and dandelion are sources of inulin, a

prebiotic that has been scientifically proven to have positive effects on the

digestive system.

• Dried fruit and plant extracts: We strive to preserve the flavours and

natural qualities of fruits and flowers, while making them easy to prepare in

the form of soluble powder.

• Coffee: We most often combine coffee with chicory or cereal blends to

produce beverages with a softer flavour, aroma, and lower caffeine content.

The production process

Beverages based on cereals and chicory are perceived as an alternative to coffee, since the

roasting and other production processes give them a similar taste and aroma, although the

ingredients do not contain caffeine. Our products are free from colouring agents and

water then suddenly

evaporates, and ready

cereal beverage powder

is produced.

5. Packaging

We use various shipping containers (big bags, cardboard boxes) and unit packaging (bags, cardboard

boxes, jars, cans, doypacks, sachets).

B2B offer

The table below presents the blends we offer as ready, packaged products, and as half-products

for further processing within the food industry. We are open to suggestions and requests from our

customers, which is why we also offer custom blends.

harmonious composition and its high content of cereals, Inka is nutritious and has a mild

Inka with spelt roasted ground

Available in sachets, this variety of Inka includes spelt, an ancient grain rediscovered by

followers of healthy food and considered to be one of the Superfoods. It is a valuable source

of protein, vitamins B and E, trace elements such as zinc, iron, copper and selenium. This is

a so-called pure cereal, which does not require nor endure chemical spraying, and withers if

exposed to it.

Inka Organic - a line of aromatic grain beverages mixed with a unique and subtle flavour of

natural ingredients coming from certified organic cultivation. Its varieties include

harmonious compositions of barley, rye and chicory, spelt and chicory, beverages with a

hint of figs or only chicory.
