Scientific studies have notbeen able to discover the

origin of the coloration, northe way the image was

painted. They cannot detectvestiges of brush strokes or

any other known paintingtechnique. NASA scientistsconfirm that the paint materialdoes not belong to any known

element on earth.

coloration on the frontor the back of the cloth,

and that the colors

touching it.

no more than 20-30 years.Several centuries ago, areplica of the image waspainted on an identical

piece of maguey cloth, and

it disintegrated afterseveral decades.

Nonetheless, during thealmost 500 years of the

image of Mary remains asstrong as it was on the first

day. Science cannotexplain why the material

has not disintegrated.

constellations are indicated: At the top are four stars that

form part of the Orphiuchusconstellation.

Below it to the left, one findsLibra, and to its right, at whatseems an arrow point, is thebeginning of Scorpio.

In the middle are theconstellations of Lupus andto its left, an end point ofHydra.

Further down, one canclearly see the SouthernCross; above it appears theslightly inclined square of theCentaurus constellation.

On the left side of the Virginsmantle one sees the northernconstellations:

At her shoulder, a fragment of thestars of the Herdsmanconstellation; below it and to theleft is the Great Bear. To its rightis Berenices Hair; below it,Hunting Dogs, and to its left, the

Thuban, which is the brighteststar of the Draco constellation.

Below the two parallel stars(which still form part of the BigBear), one finds stars fromanother pair of constellations: theAuriga and at the bottom, threestars of Taurus.

Thus, in their totality and properplaces, the 46 most brilliant starsthat can be seen on the horizonof the Valley of Mexico areidentified.

a man concealed ahigh power bomb ina flower

arrangement, and

placed it at the feetof the tilma. Theexplosion destroyedeverything around it,

except for the tilma,which remained

intact.

the eyes of

of a human eye.

11. In the eyes of Mary (only about 1/3rd inch in size), miniscule humanfigures were discovered that no artist could have painted. The same

scene is repeated in each eye.

Using digital technology, the images in the eyes were enlarged manytimes, revealing that each eye reflected the figure of the Indian Juan

Diego opening his tilma in front ofBishop Zumarraga.

to crush the head of the serpent.It properly refers to Genesis 3:15: Mary, the

conqueror of evil.

2. The image also depicts a detail fromApocalypse 12: And a great sign appeared inHeaven: A woman clothed with the sun and the

moon under her feet.

3. The Virgin wears a black band at her waist,which symbolizes pregnancy, to indicate that

God wanted Jesus to be born in the threeAmericas, in the heart of each American.
