Outcome of the Hackathon

• List of bug-fixes of the current visual-only system• List of possible solutions we thought of• Evaluation of the impact of the possible

solutions. Experiment on a few volunteers (~10-20 people) on test route (any building)

• Implementation of one of the possible solutions (database-independent)

• Proposal of step-by-step implementation and impact evaluation at HUG.

List• Visual-only ideas

– Bug-fix current system ( improve coherence )• (HUG-specific)

– Big map @ entrance– Small maps @ critical points

• Visual+common device @ entrance/critical points– Patient barcode scan -> print instructions– Select department -> print instructions– Select room -> print instructions ? (at the help desk?)

• Visual+personal device– Scan barcode/select department/select room -> show instructions + add photos of

the itinerary (google-maps-itinerary-like)– Scan sign (door number/small map/ combination of lines) show position on map

and/or show an arrow on the scanned sign

• Personal device only– Electromagnetic fingerprint– Lines with pattern recognizable by device

Lines with patterns

• “green line” can be made of squares, circles etc depending on the floor/corridor/building…

How many different shapes can be used / recognised by:- Human- device

Page 19: Discussion with Chrsitian Pier79 – H-Compass meeting #6

Evaluation

• Identify current problems– Survey among workers / users?

• Experiment with possible improvements• Implement and test

Page 20: Discussion with Chrsitian Pier79 – H-Compass meeting #6

Feedback from users

• We cannot improve the navigation in the hospital if we are not able to quantify how good/bad is the current navigation.

• Feedback from users should come in a continuous way, providing a control loop for the project development.

Page 21: Discussion with Chrsitian Pier79 – H-Compass meeting #6

Feedback from users

• Voting Systems

Page 22: Discussion with Chrsitian Pier79 – H-Compass meeting #6

Feedback from users

• Button – up approach– Users should be able to participate by giving

ideas, and identifying navigation problems

We could use the feedback system to rate and

also to let users participate with new ideas and comments.
