By doing so they have to transform themselves into a persona different from themselves. In popular theatre today there has been many shows that challenge the actor in terms of playing age, in particular exploring the effect of an adult actor playing a child. In my final year of training I have found myself playing roles from late teens, to early childhood. It has been most interesting exploring the ways a child moves and thinks in relation to text and physical presence. QUOTE An actor can find many ways to portray a character, most of them have an established method in order to immerse themselves in the performance. It is not as simple to use (SOME FAMOUS GUYS) technique of method acting, where an actor stays consistently in character, as for a child the actor is already much older and physically restricted more then compared to when they were younger. Its is a growing trend that audiences marvel at an actor playing a child rather than using children in the first place. It allows for more deeper thought in the journey and more emotional connection as they grow up before our very eyes. The best place to begin searching for the ‘inner child’ is to recall emotional memories from childhood similar to (FAMOUS GUYS) TECHNIQUE. It allows you to find truthful thoughts from that age, connecting you back to the mind of youth. Although sometimes even those memories can become very distant and so in other circumstances we follow he advice of Ian Rickett’s who established a method of watching others without them knowing, allowing the child to physically be and play and we can take from what we observe.
