Longer the distance; first to
leave the press.
The newspaper has to be delivered at
morning distribution centers max 4.30 am
across Mumbai, Thane Navi Mumbai
Reason of using Tata 305 & 407 is Platform &
the press is constructed at the same height of
tempo for fast loading of Newspaper trough
loading vehicle
Newspaper printing starts 12.30 am therefore
actual time in hand is 4 Hrs to load, Unload &
distribute newspaper across Mumbai
All the vehicles are loaded same time while
printing
Every vehicle carries 25K - 30K Copies which covers 5 6 Morning distribution
centers
Every vehicle has its fixed journey plan & copies are arrange according to route as
per the supply no. of that centers which is mentioned at the time of the packaging
to save on time of unloading

Current ScenarioCurrent Scenario
All the newspaper printing press e.g. TOI, DNA, HT, India Today
are located at Airoli ,Thane
The vehicles are hired mostly through local people due to Local
& outsider issue
The Hiring amount is pre decided as per the Distance (km) from press to desired
location vehicle will travel everyday on the particular route e.g the hiring charges for
route Airoli to Chuchgate, Colaba vehicle will charge more than another route Airolito Mulund, Bhandup
Driver charges & Toll are paid by the transporter. The cost loading & unloading
is paid by the company
Transporter paid on monthly basis. Part payment made by the company towards
diesel & toll charges as per mutual understanding in the mid of the month.
Monthly billing amount = No of days Operated (30/31) x Allotted Rate per day
Transporters is responsible to arrange alternate vehicle in case of break
down. If in case of breakdown is in between then nearby vehicle is routed to pick up
the load the transporter is liable to pay expense.

RecommendationsRecommendations
Mahindra Maxx can be used instead of TATA 305 for lesser load
routes for more economical option
Local transporters & local workers are influence by local politics & unions
which results into unwanted conditions & lesser bargaining power
Company can introduce [Meru Cab Model]
- Invest to transport
- Support Local by giving chance to become the owner of the Vehicle- Same vehicle will employ on the press
- The payable amount will paid in parts; part towards loan & part to owner
This will help to get the local support more negotiation power with
transport owner
Most of the driver on vehicle do day - night duty; even if vehicle leaves
press early ; sometimes driver parks vehicle aside & sleep / any
breakdown / accident in between the journey, There is no track of vehicle
till its reaches on centre. Own vehicle will help to install tracking system to
ensure timely delivery
