What is Distributism?
Distributism implies that the means of production, and places to do it should beshared as as widely as possible through the
general populace.● This is in contrast to Capitalism where
production is owned by a few richsters andSocialism where production is owned by the
state.● This documentary intentionally broadens the
focus to include multiple faiths, peoples and
times to give a broader perspective of Distributive st le economics at work.

History of the Demise
● Centralized monarchies arose, and forcedpeople to pay taxes by giving a part of their produce.
● Feudalism had nobels take ownership of theland, and the people or “serfs” had to work for them.
●
Industrialization promised to “free” the serfs,by putting them to work in crowded urbancenters.

Recent History of the Demise
● Industry was exported to more denselypopulated areas of the globe, and the workingpeople were left in cities.
● The number of local businesses diminished,as mega-corporations ate the small ones, andwere rewarded by the government for their gluttony, even when they choked.

History of the Revival
● High ranking Catholic people, wished a returnto the old ways, where people owned their land, tools and could produce locally.
● Ringing Cedars of Russia book series wasreleased, depicted a surviving Distributistcommunity in the depths of Siberia.
● In 2003 Russia signed the Private Garden Plot Act, entitling every citizen to 1-3 hectares of land free of charge for production or relaxation.
● The Distributist Age has begun!

Benefits of Distributism
● In Russia most of the food is produced on theproperties of citizens, it is typically Organicand thus of the highest quality attainable.
● Similarly people owning their own propertiescare for them more, and so the environment islooked after, tended and loved.
● Products can also be made of high quality,customization and diversity on such plots.

Contemporary Demise in West
● In fascist America where mega-corporationsrule, gardners are raided by police, fined andimprisoned.
● Small businesses are overburdened withregulation and are either consumed or buckleunder the pressure.
● Agricultural plots are difficult to split, but easyto make bigger for mega-corps to rape them.

Western Demise Continued
● Mega-corps disregard environment, andsidestepping regulation with massive bribes,feed people poison, all to benefit a few
richsters.● Natural resources are offerd to mega-corps to
plunder
● Menonite and Amish communities are stillaround but have been heavily infilitrated bymega-corp GMO's and chemical poisons,likely due to some mega-bribes to community
leaders.

● A few intentional communities started duringthe back to the land movement of the 70's arestill around. New ones are forming.
● Co-operatives Corporations allow for workersand users to be co-owners of the company.
● Open Source Software and Hardware areputting the means of production in peopleshands.

Distributist Trade and Currency
● Barter is the most ancient form of trade and isencouraged.
● Use of distributed means of exchange
(money) are promoted, such as preciousmetals, gems, and promissory notes.
● Usury and centralized banking are avoidedwhen possible. Credit Unions are viablealternatives.
