L oving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and

love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of today

against violence, murder and racism.

We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the

life and dignity of all people.

Bless parents that they may form their chil-dren in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost

loved ones through violence.

Hear our prayer and give us the persever-ance to be a voice for life and human dignity

in our community.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help

us.

Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we

Communion Pan de Vida

Refrain

Pan de Vida, cuerpo del Señor,

cup of blessing, blood of Christ the Lord.

At this table the last shall be first.

Poder es servir, porque Dios es amor.

1. We are the dwelling of God,

fragile and wounded and weak.

We are the body of Christ,

called to be the compassion of God.

2. You call me Teacher and Lord;

I, who have washed your feet.

So you must do as I do,

so the greatest must become the least.

3. There is no Jew or Greek;

there is no slave or free;

there is no woman or man;

only heirs of the promise of God.

we will work side by side;

We will work with each other,

we will work side by side.

Ofertorio Oración de San Francisco

1. Hazme un instrumento de tu paz,

donde haya odio lleve yo tu amor,

donde haya injuria tu perdón, Señor,

donde haya duda, fe en 5.

2. Hazme un instrumento de tu paz,

que lleve tu esperanza por doquier,

donde haya oscuridad lleve tu luz,

donde haya pena, tu gozo, Señor.

Estribillo

Maestro, ayúdame a nunca buscar

ser consolado sino consolar,

ser entendido sino entender,

ser amado si no amar.

8:30 am Mass Entrance All Are Welcome

1. Let us build a house

where love can dwell

And all can safely live,

A place where

saints and children tell

How hearts learn to forgive.

Built of hopes and dreams and visions,

Rock of faith and vault of grace;

Here the love of Christ shall

end divisions:

Refrain

All are welcome, all are welcome,

all are welcome in this place.

2. Let us build a house

where prophets speak,

And words are strong and true,

Where all God's children dare to seek

To dream God's reign anew.

Here the cross shall stand as witness

And a symbol of God's grace;

Here as one we claim the faith of Jesus:

3. Let us build a house where

love is found

In water, wine and wheat:

A banquet hall on holy ground,

Where peace and jus5ce meet.

Here the love of God, through Jesus,

Is revealed in 5me and space;

As we share in Christ the

feast that frees us:

4. Let us build a house where

hands will reach

Beyond the wood and stone

To heal and strengthen,

serve and teach,

And live the Word they've known.

Here the outcast and the stranger

Bear the image of God's face;

Let us bring an end to fear and danger:

5. Let us build a house where

all are named,

Their songs and visions heard

And loved and treasured,

taught and claimed

As words within the Word.

Built of tears and cries and laughter,

Prayers of faith and songs of grace,

Let this house proclaim from

floor to raQer:

Volunteers for Catechesis Volunteers for Catechesis Volunteers for Catechesis Volunteers for Catechesis - Catechesis thrives on volun-teers. God is calling anyone who wants to serve God and His children in our community. If you have considered this minis-try or heard God’s call to serve, this is the program for you! Please be assured there are training opportunities through-out the Archdiocese as well as here in the Parish. There is a meeting on Sunday, August 16 at 3:30 pm at SEAS Church. You can print a form from the website or sign up in the back of church. Contact Jacques Delouche at the office, 466-5016 or [email protected] for any questions or comments. Thank you and God Bless you.

St. Anthony Ministry is in need of: canned green beans, spinach, butter beans, asparagus, red beans in can, Bush’s Grillin Beans, canned chili, tuna, breast of chicken, canned roast beef, ham, potted meat, Zero, Powerade, Gatorade 2, bottled water, adult underpants. Place in St. Anthony box in back of church

Immediately, we got into work:

Continued from Last Sunday: - As I stated in the first article, the Church teaches that: “At a lower level of the hierarchy are deacons, upon whom hands are imposed ‘not unto the priesthood’ but unto a ministry of service.” This service is both to the Bishop and his priests, as well as the entire peo-ple of God. Thus, The Church specifically mentioned that: “It is the duty of the deacon, according as it shall have been assigned to him by competent authority, to administer bap-tism solemnly, to be custodian and dispenser of the Eucha-rist, to assist at and bless marriages in the name of the Church, to bring Viaticum to the dying, to read the Sacred Scripture to the faithful, to instruct and exhort the people, to preside over the worship and prayer of the faithful, to ad-minister sacramentals, to officiate at funeral and burial ser-vices.” (LG. no.29). We have been prepared, throughout the years of Seminary training/formation, for these noble duties and we are joyful-ly and confidently carrying them out in the various parishes we have been assigned to. I felt so thrilled, I felt the awe when I was holding the celebrant Chalice for the Archbishop while he prays the Doxology at Our Ordination Mass. God made me begin my service to the Bishop just a few minutes after I became a deacon. What a privilege!!!. As we conclude this weeks of reflection on the Rite of Ordi-nation of Deacon, I beg you to continue to pray for me. Pray for my colleagues ordained with me. Pray for all the semi-narians in formation in the seminary and pray for the in-crease in the number of Vocations. Ask that God who has begun this GOOD WORKGOOD WORKGOOD WORKGOOD WORK in us will bring it to fulfilment. The End – I am happy to be Deacon Francis

Awesome is God in His holy place, the God of Awesome is God in His holy place, the God of Awesome is God in His holy place, the God of Awesome is God in His holy place, the God of Israel, who gives power and strength to His Israel, who gives power and strength to His Israel, who gives power and strength to His Israel, who gives power and strength to His people. Blessed be God. people. Blessed be God. people. Blessed be God. people. Blessed be God. Psalm 68:36 The following line in the psalm reads, “Too “Too “Too “Too many for my strength are my treacherous ene-many for my strength are my treacherous ene-many for my strength are my treacherous ene-many for my strength are my treacherous ene-mies.” mies.” mies.” mies.” Yes, today we Christians are wary of our foes for they seem bent on destroying our faith in order to force us to comply with their agenda. Of ourselves we really are not strong enough to withstand the coming as-saults. However, the God we believe in, the God we serve, is invincible. He alone can bring us to victory. When the storm threatened to sink the boat in which the apostles were sailing across the sea of Galilee as Jesus slept, He woke up and said, “Why are you terrified , O you of “Why are you terrified , O you of “Why are you terrified , O you of “Why are you terrified , O you of little faith” little faith” little faith” little faith” Matt. 8:26. He immediately calmed the sea by bringing it under His control, and peace returned. Jesus will use our limited faith and bring victory out of ap-parent defeat; our role is to call out to Him as the apostles did. It is not too late. The mercy flowing from the Sacred Heart of Jesus is more than enough for us all and available to all who cry out in humility and trust, “Lord, save us! We “Lord, save us! We “Lord, save us! We “Lord, save us! We are perishing.” are perishing.” are perishing.” are perishing.” His grace is enough for us. Invite Jesus into your hearts and homes by enthroning the Sacred Heart and you too will experience miracles. 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 9

“Dios es rico en misericordia . . .” Efesios 2:4

(LG. No.29).

Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself en-tirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.
