  • Tutorial: Why become a learning organisation? A learning organisation is an organisation that prioritises learning! Simultaneously both as a process and a value, for everyone, regardless of position, status or length of service within the organisation, so that everyone is committed to being better tomorrow than they are today, through learning. A learning organisation is set apart from other organisations in the following ways.

    1. Learning is integrated into everything people do; it is a regular part of the job, not something extra you add on.

    2. Learning is a process, not an event. 3. Cooperation is the foundation of all relationships. 4. Individuals themselves evolve and grow, and in the process transform the

    organisation. 5. The learning organisation is creative, where individuals re-create the

    organisation. 6. The organisation learns form itself, employees teach the organisation about

    efficiency, quality improvement and innovation.

    7. It is enjoyable and exciting to be part of a learning organisation. With a shared vision and commitment to that vision, people will motivate themselves to learn. Finally two important facts of learning in a learning organisation are;

    1. Employees learn more about the business side of their company. 2. Individuals learn how to use themselves as tools.
