Your complete satisfaction withyour Acura automobile is our maingoal. All personnel at Acuraautomobile dealerships arethoroughly trained to provide thebest service for your vehicle. If youare not satisfied with anymaintenance or repair work doneby the dealership, follow thesethree steps:

Step 1 - Talk over your concernswith the dealership’smanagement, such as the ServiceManager or General Manager. Inmost cases, a satisfactory solutionis found at this step.

Step 2 - We recognize that, onsome occasions, a customer willnot be totally satisfied with adealer’s decision or actions inStep 1. If this is the case, youshould call or write the Acura

Client Services Office. Theaddress and telephone number areon the inside front cover. Pleaseprovide the followinginformation:

� Year, model, and VehicleIdentification Number of yourvehicle, and its current mileage.

� The name of the dealer whosold you the vehicle.

� The name of the dealer whoservices your vehicle.

� Date, mileage, and reason foreach visit to an Acuradealership.

� Any non-Acura dealershiprepair service for theproblem(s).

� Your daytime and eveningtelephone numbers.

The staff of the Client ServicesOffice is interested in workingwith you and the dealership tofind a satisfactory solution.

Step 3 - If you disagree with thedecision reached by the staff ofthe Acura Client Services Office,you may request to have yourcase reviewed in an independentforum run by the Council ofBetter Business Bureaus (BBB).This program is called “BBBAUTO LINE.” You may file aclaim at any time by calling theBetter Business Bureau, toll-free,at 1-800-955-5100. Your call willbe automatically directed to theBBB in your area.

BBB AUTO LINE’s purpose is toresolve disputes between vehiclemanufacturers and theircustomers. BBB AUTO LINE’sdecision makers are impartialthird parties who will listen toboth the customer and themanufacturer and decide what canbe done to resolve thedisagreement.

The BBB AUTO LINE’s decisionis not binding on you unless youagree to accept it. If you acceptthe decision, Acura will abide byit. Generally, disputes submitted

to BBB AUTO LINE are resolvedwithin 40 days (47 days if youhave not first contacted Acuraabout your complaint).

Acura offers you the opportunityto mediate and arbitrate adisagreement through BBBAUTO LINE because we wantyou to feel that you have beentreated fairly.

Eligibility is limited by yourvehicle’s age, mileage, and otherfactors. In order to file a claim,you need to provide your nameand address, the VehicleIdentification Number of yourvehicle, and a brief statementoutlining the disagreement.Initially, BBB may try to resolvethe disagreement throughmediation. If this is notsuccessful, your complaint will be

reviewed by an impartial,volunteer arbitrator. You maypresent the facts of your case tothe arbitrator at an informalmeeting.

We encourage you to use thisprogram before, or instead of,going to court. It is informal, freeof charge to you, and generallyresolves problems much fasterthan the court system. Lawyersare usually not involved in theresolution of claims through theBBB, although you may obtainone at your own expense if youchoose.

If you want to go to court, we donot require you to first file a claimwith BBB AUTO LINE.However, please note that somestates’ laws may require you tofile a claim with BBB AUTO

LINE before you can proceed to astate-operated dispute resolutionprocess or the court system. If youdo not accept the decision of BBBAUTO LINE, you can still go tocourt.

Lemon Laws

Many states have enacted whatare commonly referred to as“Lemon Laws.” Although thedetails of these laws vary fromstate to state, their main purposeis to assure you certain rights ifyou have problems with your newvehicle. In general terms, theselaws usually say that if yourvehicle has a problem that cannotbe repaired in several attempts, orhas a series of problems that keepit out of service for an extendedperiod, you may qualify for reliefunder the lemon law in your state.

Some states require you to notifythe manufacturer about theproblem(s), and some states givethe manufacturer, or itsrepresentative, a chance to correctthe problem(s). A state mayrequire you to submit yourcomplaint to a dispute resolutionprogram, such as BBB AUTOLINE, before proceeding to otherforums.

Lemon Laws have manyprovisions. If you feel your newAcura qualifies for considerationunder the lemon law in your area,we suggest you check the laws inyour state.

We want you to be satisfied withyour Acura automobile. If youhave any questions, please contactyour Acura dealer or the ClientServices Office.

Acura may cover, on a case bycase basis, some or all of the costto repair a problem that is notcovered by your vehicle’s limitedwarranties.

If your vehicle develops aproblem you feel should berepaired by Acura at no cost,discuss it with your dealer.

If you are not satisfied with yourAcura dealer’s decision, call orwrite the Acura Client ServicesOffice (the address and telephonenumber are on the inside frontcover). Please provide thisinformation about your vehicle:year, model, VehicleIdentification Number (VIN),mileage, maintenance history, adetailed explanation of theproblem, and why you thinkAcura should be responsible forthe repair. Your request will beinvestigated, and you will beinformed of Acura’s decision.

10 Your Warranties in Detail

The warranty coverages in thisbooklet are offered only to theowner of a 2003 Acuraautomobile. To be covered, thevehicle must be distributed byAmerican Honda through theAcura Automobile Division, andsold by an Acura automobiledealer in the United States, PuertoRico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Parts replaced under any of thewarranties in this booklet becomethe property of Acura. Acura willmake the final decision whether torepair any existing part orassembly or replace it.

Acura may use factory-remanufactured parts rather thannew parts for some warrantyrepairs. Those parts, like newparts, are covered for theremainder of the New VehicleLimited Warranty (see page 11).

These Warranties Do NotCover� The failure of any part or

accessory due to:– Abuse, misuse, accidental

damage, or acts of God.– Improper installation or

maintenance.– A low fluid level or the use

of a fluid other thanspecified by Acura.

– The installation of any partthat is not equal to theoriginal in quality ofmaterials or workmanship.

– Use of the vehicle incompetition or racing events.

� Any installed part or accessorythat fails because it was notdesigned to fit that year andmodel of Acura.

� Any vehicle with an odometerthat has been altered so it isimpossible to determine theactual mileage.

� Any vehicle while it is registeredor normally driven outside theUnited States, Puerto Rico, orthe U.S. Virgin Islands.

� Any failure caused by modifyingthe vehicle, or installingaccessories not authorized byAcura.

� Any incidental expenses orinconvenience you may sufferdue to the loss of use of yourvehicle.

� Any vehicle that has ever beendeclared a total loss or sold forsalvage by a financial institutionor insurer, or that has beenissued a “salvage” or similartitle under any state’s law. Thisexclusion does not apply to theEmissions Warranties, the SeatBelt Limited Warranty, theReplacement Parts LimitedWarranty, or any recalls orother campaigns.

General Warranty Provisions

11Your Warranties in Detail

Time and Mileage PeriodThis warranty begins on the datethe vehicle is put into use in oneof the following ways:

� The vehicle is delivered to thefirst purchaser by an Acuradealer.

� The vehicle is leased.

� The vehicle is used as a demon-strator or company vehicle.

Your vehicle is covered for 4years or 50,000 miles, whichevercomes first.

Warranty CoverageAcura will repair or replace anypart that is defective in material orworkmanship under normal use.See Proper Operation on page38. All repairs/replacements madeunder this warranty are free ofcharge. The replaced or repaired

parts are covered only until thisNew Vehicle Warranty expires.

This Warranty Does Not Cover� Emissions control systems,

Accessories, Battery, or Tires.(They have their own warranties.)

� Normal wear or deteriorationof any part.

� Cleaning and polishing.

� The adding of any fluids,unless they are needed as partof a warranty repair.

� Air conditioner refrigerantcharge after the first year,unless required as part of awarranty repair.

� Broken, chipped, or scratchedwindow glass unless it is due toa defect in material orworkmanship.

� Any item concerning yourvehicle’s general appearance thatis not due to a defect in materialor workmanship. Cosmeticflaws or minor damage to thebody, paint, or other items mayoccur during manufacture orshipping of your vehicle. Theseare usually found and correctedbefore delivery. If you find anyuncorrected flaws or damage onyour new vehicle, notify thedealer as soon as possible afterdelivery.

� The replacement of expendablemaintenance items (such asspark plugs, filters, wiperblades, or brake pads/linings),unless they are defective inmaterial or workmanship.

� Wheel balancing and wheelalignment after 1 year or12,000 miles, unless requiredas part of a warranty repair.

Your Warranty Rightsand Obligations

The Federal Emissions-relatedDefects and EmissionsPerformance warranties are inaddition to the Acura NewVehicle Limited Warranty. Thesewarranties are given only to theowner of a 2003 Acura distributedby American Honda through theAcura Automobile Division, andsold by an authorized Acuradealer in the fifty United States,the District of Columbia, theCommonwealth of Puerto Rico,the Virgin Islands, Guam,American Samoa, and theCommonwealth of the NorthernMariana Islands.

If an authorized Acura automobiledealer cannot repair your vehicleor honor your claim within areasonable period of time, contactthe Acura Client Services Officefor assistance (see inside frontcover), or you may write to:

Your Responsibilities

To qualify for coverage by theDefects and Performancewarranties, you should operateand maintain your 2003 Acuraaccording to the requirements onpage 38 of this warranty booklet,

and the Maintenance Schedule inthe Owner’s Manual. Thisschedule is designed to keep yourvehicle’s emissions controlsystems functioning properly bymaintaining your vehicle in peakoperating condition.

Acura will not deny a claim foremissions warranty coveragesimply because you did notmaintain the vehicle, or do nothave maintenance records to showthat you did. However, any partthat fails because of abuse or lackof maintenance will not becovered by this warranty.

Acura recommends that only partssupplied by Acura or equivalentparts be used to repair yourvehicle. Maintenance,replacement, or repair ofemissions control devices andsystems may be done by any

automotive repairestablishment or individual.

Under normal circumstances,Acura will pay for warrantyrepairs only when they areperformed at an authorized Acurarepair facility. However, in anemergency situation, the repair ofemissions control devices orsystems may be done by anyautomotive repair establishmentor individual, or by the owner,using any replacement part. Anemergency situation is consideredto exist if an authorized Acurarepair facility or warranted part isnot reasonably available to correcta problem.

Acura will reimburse you forthose emergency repairs that arecovered by the EmissionsWarranties. Parts reimbursementis at the manufacturer’s suggested

retail price, and laborreimbursement is at ageographically-appropriate hourlylabor rate for Acura’srecommended time allowance.For reimbursement, present thereplaced parts and a copy of thepaid receipt to any authorizedAcura automobile dealer.

The use of replacement parts notequivalent to the original partsmay impair the effectiveness ofyour vehicle’s emissions controlsystems. If a non-equivalentreplacement part is used in themaintenance or repair of yourvehicle, and if an authorizedAcura automobile dealerdetermines it is defective orcauses a failure of a warrantedpart, your claim for repair to bringyour vehicle into compliance withapplicable standards may bedenied. If the part in question is

not related to the reason yourvehicle fails to meet thestandards, your claim will not bedenied.

These Warranties Do NotCover:

� Failures or malfunctions of theemissions control systemscaused by abuse, alteration,accident, misuse, or the use ofleaded gasoline.

� Replacement of maintenanceitems such as, but not limitedto, spark plugs, filters, hoses,belts, coolant or lubricantsbeyond their first requiredmaintenance point.

� Consequential damages such asloss of time or use of thevehicle.

Emissions-related Design and Defects Warranty

Design and Defects WarrantyCoverageAcura warrants that yourautomobile:1. Is designed, built and equipped

to conform at the time of salewith all applicable emissionsstandards.

and2. Is free from defects in

materials and workmanshipthat would cause it to fail toconform with applicableemissions requirements duringthe specified time and mileageperiod.

A partial list of the parts coveredby this warranty is on pages24-27. Several parts in theemissions control systems arecovered for 8 years or 80,000

miles, whichever comes first.Those parts are identified by 8/80on pages 24-27.

Time and Mileage PeriodThis warranty begins on the datethe vehicle is delivered to the firstpurchaser other than an authorizedAcura dealer, or the date it is firstused as a demonstrator, lease, orcompany vehicle, whichevercomes first, and continues for 4years or 50,000 miles, whichevercomes first.

To Get Emissions Warranty ServiceRepairs covered by this warrantywill be performed at no charge forparts, labor, and diagnosis.

An authorized Acura dealer isrequired, within 30 days of thetime you take your vehicle to thedealer for emissions warrantyservice, to either honor your claimfor adjustment, repair, orreplacement, or notify you inwriting that your claim is beingdenied, and explain why.

If this time limit is not met, anauthorized Acura dealer willperform the required repairs freeof charge. The only exceptionsallowed are when you, the owner,request or agree to a delay, or thedelay is caused by circumstancesbeyond the control of Acura orthe dealer.

If an authorized Acura automobiledealer is not able to repair yourvehicle within 30 days from the

time you take it to the dealer, youmay have your vehicle repaired atany repair facility you choose.The only exceptions allowed arewhen you, the owner, request oragree to a delay, or the delay iscaused by circumstances beyondthe control of Acura or the dealer.

If you choose a repair facility thatis not an authorized Acura dealer,Acura will reimburse you for therepair. Parts reimbursement is atthe manufacturer’s suggested retailprice, and labor reimbursement isat a geographically-appropriatehourly labor rate for Acura’srecommended time allowance.For reimbursement, present thereplaced part(s) and a copy of thepaid receipt to any authorizedAcura automobile dealer.

This warranty begins on the datethe vehicle is delivered to the firstpurchaser other than an authorizedAcura dealer, or the date it is firstused as a demonstrator, lease, orcompany vehicle, whichever comesfirst.

Performance WarrantyCoverageAcura warrants that if yourvehicle fails an EPA-approvedemissions short test, to bring yourvehicle into compliance withapplicable emissions standardsAcura will, at no cost to you:� During the first 4 years or

50,000 miles, whichever comesfirst, make all adjustments,diagnosis, repairs andreplacements necessary,including those parts listed onpages 24-27.

To Get Emissions PerformanceWarranty ServiceIf your vehicle fails anEPA-approved short test, it shouldbe taken to an authorized Acuraautomobile dealer. Take alongproof of purchase date and a copyof the test report.

NOTE: The emissions test shouldbe performed with the vehicle atnormal operating temperature.Before getting a test, drive thevehicle for several miles at 25MPH or above and test thevehicle as soon as possible afterdriving.

Repairs covered by this warrantywill be performed at no charge forparts, labor, and diagnosis.

If this time limit is not met, anauthorized Acura dealer willperform the required repairs freeof charge. The only exceptionsallowed are when you, the owner,request or agree to a delay, or thedelay is caused by circumstancesbeyond the control of Acura orthe dealer.

In addition to the FederalEmissions Warranties, theCalifornia Emissions Warrantiesthat follow cover all vehiclesregistered in California,Massachusetts, and Vermont.

Your Warranty Rightsand Obligations

The California Air ResourcesBoard and Acura are pleased toexplain the emission controlsystems warranty on your 2003vehicle. In California, new motorvehicles must be designed, builtand equipped to meet the State’sstringent anti-smog standards.Acura must warrant the emissioncontrol system on your vehicle forthe periods of time listed belowprovided there has been no abuse,neglect or improper maintenanceof your vehicle.

Your emission control systemmay include parts such as thecarburetor or fuel injectionsystem, the ignition system,catalytic converter, and enginecomputer. Also included may behoses, belts, connectors and otheremissions-related assemblies.

Where a warrantable conditionexists, Acura will repair yourvehicle at no cost to you includingdiagnosis, parts and labor.

Manufacturer’sWarranty Coverage

For 4 years or 50,000 miles(whichever first occurs):

� If your vehicle fails a SmogCheck inspection, all necessaryrepairs and adjustments will bemade by Acura to ensure that

your vehicle passes theinspection. This is youremissions control systemsPERFORMANCEWARRANTY.

� If any emissions-related part onyour vehicle is defective, thepart will be repaired orreplaced by Acura. This is yourshort-term emissions controlsystems DEFECTSWARRANTY.

For 7 years or 70,000 miles(whichever first occurs):

Owner’s WarrantyResponsibilities

As the vehicle owner, you areresponsible for the performanceof the required maintenance listedin your owner’s manual. Acurarecommends that you retain allreceipts covering maintenance onyour vehicle, but Acura cannotdeny warranty solely for the lackof receipts or for your failure toensure the performance of allscheduled maintenance.

You are responsible for presentingyour vehicle to an Acura dealer assoon as a problem exists. Thewarranty repairs should becompleted in a reasonable amountof time, not to exceed 30 days.

As the vehicle owner, you shouldalso be aware that Acura maydeny you warranty coverage if

your vehicle or a part has faileddue to abuse, neglect, impropermaintenance or unapprovedmodifications.

The California Emissions ControlSystem Defects and EmissionsPerformance warranties are inaddition to the Acura New CarLimited Warranty and FederalEmissions Warranties. Thesewarranties are given only to theowner of a 2003 model yearAcura automobile distributed by

Your Responsibilities

To qualify for coverage under thedefects and performancewarranties, you should operateand maintain your 2003 Acuraautomobile according to therequirements on page 38 of thisWarranty booklet, and theMaintenance Schedule in theOwner’s Manual. This schedule isdesigned to keep your vehicle’semissions control systemsfunctioning properly bymaintaining your vehicle in peakoperating condition.

Acura will not deny a claim foremissions warranty coveragesimply because you did notmaintain the vehicle, or do nothave maintenance records to showthat you did. However, any partthat fails because of abuse or lack

of required maintenance will notbe covered by this warranty.

Acura recommends that only partssupplied by Acura or equivalentparts be used to repair yourvehicle. Maintenance,replacement, or repair ofemissions control devices andsystems may be done by anyautomotive repairestablishment or individual.

Under normal circumstances,Acura will pay for warrantyrepairs only when they areperformed at an authorized Acurarepair facility. However, in anemergency situation, the repair ofemissions control devices orsystems may be done by anyautomotive repair establishmentor individual, or by the owner,using any replacement part.

An emergency situation isconsidered to exist if anauthorized Acura repair facility isnot reasonably available, or whena warranted part is not availablewithin 30 days, or when anauthorized Acura repair facility isunable to complete a repair within30 days.

Acura will reimburse you forthose emergency repairs,including diagnosis, covered bythe Emissions Warranties. Partsreimbursement is at themanufacturer’s suggested retailprice, and labor reimbursement isat a geographically-appropriatehourly labor rate for Acura’srecommended time allowance.For reimbursement, present thereplaced parts and a copy of thepaid receipt to any authorizedAcura dealer.

The use of replacement parts notequivalent to the original partsmay impair the effectiveness ofyour vehicle’s emissions controlsystems. If a non-equivalentreplacement part is used in themaintenance or repair of yourvehicle, and if an authorizedAcura automobile dealerdetermines it is defective orcauses damage to a warrantedpart, your claim for repair to bringyour vehicle into compliance withapplicable standards may bedenied. If the part in question isnot related to the reason yourvehicle fails to meet thestandards, your claim will not bedenied.

These Warranties Do NotCover:

� Failures or malfunctions of theemissions control systemscaused by abuse, alteration,accident, misuse, or the use ofleaded gasoline.

� Replacement of maintenanceitems such as, but not limitedto, spark plugs, filters, hoses,belts, coolant or lubricantsbeyond their first scheduledmaintenance.

� Consequential damages such asloss of time or use of thevehicle.


Emissions Control Systems Defects Warranty

Warranty Coverage

Acura warrants to the owner ofany 2003 California model thatthe automobile:

1. Is designed, built and equippedto conform at the time of salewith all applicable emissionsstandards.

and2. Is free from defects in materials

and workmanship which wouldcause it to fail to conform withapplicable requirements duringthe specified time and mileageperiods.

A warranted part is defined as anypart that can affect emissions. Apartial list of the parts covered bythis warranty is on pages 24-27.

Time and Mileage Period

This warranty begins on the datethe vehicle is delivered to the firstpurchaser other than anauthorized Acura dealer, or thedate it is first used as ademonstrator, lease, or companyvehicle, whichever comes first,and continues for 4 years or 50,000miles, whichever comes first.Several parts of the emissionscontrol systems are covered for 7years or 70,000 miles, whichevercomes first. Those parts areidentified with 7/70 on pages24-27.

To Get EmissionsWarranty Service

Repairs covered by this warrantywill be performed at no charge forparts, labor, and diagnosis. Anyauthorized Acura automobiledealer will perform theadjustment, repair, or replacementwithin 30 days from the time youtake your vehicle to the dealer.

If an authorized Acura automobiledealer is unable to repair yourvehicle within 30 days from thetime you take your vehicle to thedealer, then this situation will betreated as an emergency and youmay have your vehicle repaired atany repair facility you choose.

This warranty begins on the datethe vehicle is delivered to the firstpurchaser other than anauthorized Acura dealer, or thedate it is first used as ademonstrator, lease, or companyvehicle, whichever comes first.

Warranty CoverageAcura warrants to the owner ofany 2003 model year Acura that ifyour vehicle fails a Smog Checktest (or an EPA-approved shorttest) Acura will, at no cost to you:

� During the first 4 years or50,000 miles, whichever comesfirst, make all adjustments,diagnosis, repairs andreplacements necessary tomake your vehicle pass the test,

including those parts listed onpages 24-27.

To Get EmissionsWarranty ServiceIf your vehicle fails a SmogCheck test (or an EPA-approvedshort test), it should be taken to anauthorized Acura automobiledealer. Take along a copy of theSmog Check test report.

NOTE: The emissions test shouldbe performed with the vehicle atnormal operating temperature.Before getting a test, drive thevehicle for several miles at 25MPH or above and test the vehicleas soon as possible after driving.


Repairs covered by this warrantywill be performed at no charge forparts, labor, and diagnosis.


If this time limit is not met, anauthorized Acura dealer willperform the required repairs freeof charge. The only exceptionsallowed are when you, the owner,request or agree to a delay, or thedelay is caused by circumstances

beyond the control of Acura orthe dealer.

While seat belts cannotcompletely remove the possibilityof injury, they do provide a verysignificant level of protectionwhen used properly. Acurabelieves the best way to enhanceyour safety is to use your seatbelt. To encourage their use, theseat belts should always be ingood operating condition.

Time Period

This warranty continues for theuseful life of the vehicle.

Warranty Coverage

Acura will repair or replace, at itsoption, any Acura seat beltcomponent that fails to functionproperly during normal use. Thisincludes all parts and laborcharges.

This Warranty Does NotCover:

� Replacement of a properly-functioning seat belt assemblystrictly for cosmetic or comfortreasons.

This warranty’s coverage beginson the same date as the NewVehicle Limited Warranty (seepage 11), and continues for 5years with no mileage limit. Anybody panels repaired or replacedunder this warranty are coveredonly for the time remaining in theoriginal 5 years of coverage.

Warranty Coverage

Acura will repair or replace anyoriginal body panel that rustscompletely through from theinside out (perforated bycorrosion). This includes panelspreviously repaired or replacedunder this warranty. Rust thatdoes not perforate, but is causedby a defect in material orworkmanship, is covered underthe New Car Limited Warranty.You will not be charged for anyparts, material, or labor under thiswarranty. The decision to repair,rather than replace, any rustedbody panel will be made byAcura.


� Surface rust on the underbodyor any other part of the vehicleexcept body panels.

� Rusting of body panels thatwere repaired, replaced, orrefinished after retail sale of thevehicle, unless those panelswere repaired or replaced underthis warranty.

� Body panel rust caused byabuse, misuse, or lack ofmaintenance.

� Rusting where the paint hasbeen damaged by road hazardssuch as stones and debris.

Rust Perforation Limited Warranty


� Rust caused by immersion ofthe body panel in water, mud,or sand; or resulting fromexposure to corrosive gas orindustrial fallout.

� Paint matching. (Acurareserves the right to decidehow much of the repaired orreplaced panel, and anyadjoining body panels, need tobe repainted to match theoriginal finish. Acura will not,under any circumstances,authorize painting the entirevehicle strictly for the purposeof paint matching.)

Audio System Component Exchange Program

If the audio system in your Acuradevelops a problem during thiswarranty period, telephone theService Department at yourAcura dealer. The service personwill ask you several questionsabout your vehicle and theproblem. If he decides from thisconversation that the problem isin one of the system’s majorcomponents (radio, CD player),

he will immediately order areplacement component. This willtake less than a week. You willthen be notified to bring yourvehicle to the dealership so theaudio system can be repaired.Telephoning your dealer about anaudio system problem allows himto service you more efficientlyand can save you an extra trip.

Acura may use factory-remanufactured audiocomponents rather than newcomponents for some warrantyrepairs. Those components, likenew components, are covered forthe remainder of the AccessoryLimited Warranty.


� Air conditioner refrigerantcharge after the first year,unless required as part of awarranty repair.

� Any accessory installed on anAcura other than the year ormodel it was designed to fit.

� Any accessory that isimproperly installed.

� Any claim presented withoutproof of accessory purchaseand/or installation date andvehicle mileage at time ofinstallation.

� The cost of labor to repair orreplace any accessory that wasnot originally installed by anAcura dealer.


This warranty applies only toautomobile replacement partsdistributed by American Hondathrough the Acura AutomobileDivision, and sold through anAcura automobile dealer in theUnited States, Puerto Rico, or theU.S. Virgin Islands.

Time and Mileage PeriodReplacement PartsParts installed by an Acura dealerare covered for 1 year or 12,000miles, whichever comes first.Warranted parts purchased froman Acura dealer but installed bysomeone else are covered for 1year from the date of purchase.Remanufactured PartsRemanufactured parts installed byan Acura dealer are covered for 3years or 36,000 miles, whichevercomes first. Some examples ofremanufactured parts are alternators,starters, brake calipers, power

steering racks and pumps, ABSmodulators, automatic transmissions,and driveshafts. Check with yourdealer to determine if aremanufactured part was used torepair your vehicle.Remanufactured parts purchasedfrom an Acura dealer but installedby someone else are covered for 3years from the date of purchase.

Warranty CoverageAcura will repair or replace anypart covered by this warranty thatis defective in material orworkmanship under normal use. Ifthe part was originally installedby an Acura dealer, the repair orreplacement will be done with nocharge for parts or labor. If thepart was originally installed bysomeone else, the cost of thereplacement or repair is coveredby Acura, but you must pay allinstallation costs.


� Claims which do not includedocumented proof of purchasedate, installation date, andvehicle mileage at the time ofinstallation.

� Parts considered to be normalmaintenance items, unless theyare defective in material orworkmanship. Some examplesare: spark plugs, filters, andbrake pads.

� Parts replaced under the NewCar Limited Warranty or partscovered by other warranties inthis manual.

This warranty applies only toreplacement batteries purchasedfrom an Acura automobile dealerin the United States, Puerto Rico,or the U.S. Virgin Islands.


Replacement batteries are coveredby a 5 year limited warranty.

Warranty Coverage

During the first two years of service,a defective replacement batterywill be replaced at no cost for thenew battery, labor, or installation.

For the remaining three years, youwill receive a credit toward thepurchase of a new battery. Thecredit is based on the then-currentretail price:

� Months 25 to 36 – 60%

� Months 37 to 48 – 40%

� Months 49 to 60 – 20%

You are responsible for the laboror installation charges.

The battery is warranted for thetime remaining in the original 5year Replacement Battery LimitedWarranty.

Replacement Battery Limited Warranty



The Acura automobilereplacement muffler is warrantedagainst defects in material andworkmanship for as long as thatmuffler’s purchaser owns thevehicle on which it is installed.

If the warranted muffler fails dueto a defect, Acura will exchangeit. You must have proof ofpurchase for the failed muffler. Ifthe muffler was originallyinstalled by an Acura dealer, thecost of labor for removal andreplacement is also covered bythis warranty.


� Labor cost for removal andreplacement if the defectivemuffler was not originallyinstalled by an Acura dealer.

� Other parts of the exhaustsystem, including pipes,gaskets, hangers, clamps, orother mounting hardware.

� The original equipmentmuffler, or any mufflerinstalled while the New CarLimited Warranty is in effect.

� The cost of parts or labor forany additional repairsassociated with replacing thewarranted muffler.

By keeping your Acura in topcondition, you will be rewardedwith years of trouble-free serviceat the lowest operating cost. Thekeys to keeping your Acura in topcondition are proper operationand regular maintenance.

Proper Operation

Your Acura is designed for use asa passenger vehicle. You shoulduse it to transport people and theirluggage on regular roads andhighways. Several things youshould do to take care of yourAcura are:

� Avoid exceeding your vehicle’sload limit. This puts excessstrain on the engine, brakes, andseveral other systems in your

vehicle. Refer to the Owner’sManual to find the location ofthe Load Limit label on yourvehicle.

� Operate your Acura onreasonable roads within thelegal speed limit.

� Drive your Acura regularlyover a distance of severalmiles. Like a person, a vehiclefunctions better with regularexercise.

� Always use an unleadedgasoline of the proper OctaneNumber (Anti-Knock Index).See your Owner’s Manual formore information.

Maintenance

You should check the engine oiland radiator coolant levels eachtime you fill the gas tank. Thisprotects the vital systems of yourAcura, and may help you discoverpotential problems.

Always maintain your 2003 Acuraaccording to the MaintenanceSchedule in your Owner’s Manual.The time and mileage intervalsgiven in this Schedule forinspections and replacementsshould never be exceeded. Theyare essential to trouble-freeoperation. Parts that fail becausethey did not get proper, timelymaintenance are not covered bywarranty. However, if a part failsdue to a defect in material orworkmanship, the warranty claim

will not be denied because ofimproper maintenance oroperation.

The people at your Acura dealerare fully trained and equipped toefficiently perform scheduledmaintenance on your 2003 Acura.However, service at the dealer isnot mandatory for continuedwarranty coverage. You can havescheduled maintenance donesomewhere other than your Acuradealer, or you can do themaintenance yourself.

If you regularly take your vehicleto the Acura dealer for scheduledmaintenance, he will know itshistory if you need to make awarranty claim. If someone elsehas been performing themaintenance, the dealer may askfor evidence that you have

properly maintained the vehicle.This evidence may consist of oneor more of the following:

� A Maintenance Record (suchas the one in the Owner’sManual) showing the odometermileage and date for eachservice. Each entry in thisRecord should be signed by aperson who is qualified toservice automobiles.

� Copies of repair orders or otherreceipts that include theodometer mileage and date thatthe vehicle was serviced. Eachreceipt should be signed by aqualified automotive servicetechnician.

You should take your vehicle,along with proof of purchase date,to an Acura automobile dealerduring his normal service hours. Ifyour warranty claim is for areplacement part or accessory thatwas originally installed by anAcura dealer, take along proof ofthe vehicle’s mileage at the time ofinstallation.

If your vehicle cannot be driven,contact the Acura automobiledealer nearest to you for towingassistance. You do not have topay for towing to the nearestAcura dealer if the failure iscovered by any of the warrantiesin this book.

Emergency RepairsAcura recognizes that yourvehicle could develop a serious

problem needing immediate repairat a facility other than an Acuradealer. Acura will reimburse youfor the repair if:

� The repair would normally becovered by one of thewarranties in this booklet.

and� All Acura dealers within 50

miles of the break-down wereclosed at the time, or therewere no Acura dealers within50 miles.

and� The vehicle was immobile, or

attempting to drive the vehiclewould cause further damage orbe unsafe.

For reimbursement, go to anyAcura automobile dealer. Youmust show a copy of the paidreceipt, and the replaced part(s).

The dealer will reimburse you forthe parts at the currentmanufacturer’s suggested retailprice; and you will be reimbursedfor labor at a geographically-appropriate labor rate for Acura’srecommended time allowance.

If you are ever dissatisfied with awarranty service or decision froman Acura dealer, please refer tothe Customer Satisfactionstatement on page 2.

Traveling Outsidethe United States

If you are planning to use yourAcura to travel outside the U.S.,you may want to contact the AcuraClient Services Office forinformation on Acura distributorsin the area you plan to visit.

How to Get Warranty Service

Leaded fuel can cause damage toyour vehicle’s emissions controlsthat would not be covered underwarranty. You should determine inadvance if unleaded fuel isavailable in the areas you intendto visit.

Relocating Outsidethe United StatesAny vehicle purchased from anauthorized Acura dealer in thiscountry is manufactured to meetU.S. government safety andemissions specifications. Othercountries not only marketdifferent Acura models, they alsohave their own safety andemissions standards that differfrom U.S. requirements.

If you plan to export your vehicleto another country and register it

there, we recommend that youcontact the vehicle import agencyin that country to determine therequirements. American Hondadoes not have this information.

Be advised that modifications toyour vehicle to meet anothercountry’s requirements may be veryexpensive and, in some cases,impossible to perform. Parts tomodify a vehicle to meet foreignspecifications are not available inthe U.S.

Getting your vehicle serviced inanother country may be difficult,even if you take it to an Acuradealer. Because that country mayhave models with differentequipment and specifications, thedealer may not have parts that aresuitable for your U.S. vehicle.

Warranty CoverageOutside the United StatesThe warranties in this bookletcover only Acuras purchased andregistered in the United States,Puerto Rico, and the U.S. VirginIslands. Acuras registered andnormally driven in other countriesare not covered.

Acura dealers outside the U.S.may not honor these warranties. Ifyou have your U.S.-specificationAcura serviced by an Acuradealer in another country (whileon vacation, for example), andthat service would normally becovered by one of the warrantiesin this booklet, please contactAmerican Honda.
