Does Jesus Care?

Think about what has happened in your life—the good and the bad.

Have you ever asked God, “Do you not care about what is happening to me?”

Bible characters have felt like this, too.Mark 4:35-41: The disciples, through the

storm, thought Jesus didn’t care.While their lives were in danger, Jesus slept.Instead of grabbing a rope, oars, sails or a

bucket, Jesus says, “Peace, be still.”

Does Jesus Care?

Lesson #1: Storms happen to committed disciples. If we make the right choices, should we be

immune to storms? Everyone will endure storms (Matt. 7:24-27;

Acts 14:22; II Tim. 3:12; Eph. 5:15-16).Lesson #2: They drive us to Jesus.

The disciples needed Jesus during the storm. Storms do not come to convince us of our own

strength (II Cor. 12:7-10). Realize the storms are lessons for us.

Does Jesus Care?

Lesson # 3: Jesus acts in His own time. Jesus does not act on our timetable. God does care (I Peter 5:6-7). Rom. 8:28: God causes all things to work

together for our good … if we love Him.Lesson #4: Jesus can calm the storm.

Disciples had no idea how helpful Jesus could be. John 1:1-4: All things came into being. He may not work the way we thought He would,

but He will calm the storms when it is most beneficial.

Does Jesus Care?

Lesson #5: True peace—faith throughout storms. True peace is found in Mark 4:37-38 when

Jesus’ sleep wasn’t impacted by the storm. Phil. 4:7: That is the peace we are to work for.

Lesson #6: Storms are to strengthen our faith. Storms are learning experiences, not meant to

cripple our faith but strengthen it (James 1:2-3; Rom. 5:3-4).

Remember: God will act in His time and in the way that is best for us.
