the hottest city. Area 2 is actually even

hotter with the number of fellowships

and events which have taken place in

April and a lot more being planned for

the last quarter. Tablers of Area 2 have

got an opportunity to travel to IIM-A and

TTT events which have given them

immense confidence both at a personal

and professional levels. The community

service activities and the small go green

initiatives speak volumes about the

commitment of each tabler in Area 2.

Talk of the TOWNLAPD @ Area 2 was at an all time high as t a b l e r s g o t t h e o p p o r t u n i t y t o attend an Advanced course at the mecca of management in India - IIM-A. Train the Trainer event was held at Delhi, a n d A 2 h a d a representation there as well. MERT30’s Summer Magic camp is worth a mention with the commendable efforts put in by the table to e n t e r t a i n n e e d y s c h o o l c h i l d r e n during vacations.

The 3rd AEX of Area 2 was held at the Madras Cricket Club on 6th Apr’14. After 2 amazing quarters of DOing MORE, most tablers had thought that this would turn out to be a quiet quarter and a quiet AEX, but to their surprise, this was a marathon of a meeting which had all the elements of a blockbuster movie as the tables dis a lot more and had a lot more to do in the coming last quarter.

Thanks to the sergeant Tr.Sanjay Goel (Chairman, MERT30) & Tr.Anant (A2, Rules Convenor) who made sure each Chairman was made to DO MORE by contributing to the sergeant collection which nearly matched the previous AGM collection. This was the LOVE shown by the sergeant to his fellow tablers.

MWRT10 took over the AEX venue in no time and displayed fancy toy cars and fired general knowledge questions at the members and gave away those cars as gifts to the winners. This was a teaser for their upcoming QuizX event. Now this was enough entertainment at the venue to get the crowd on their toes.

A short session on awareness and criticality of Voting by RT82’s Sq.Leg Karthik Thirunarayanan helped us understand what one vote means and the impact is already seen in our country now.

The presentations by Table Chairmen & Convenors showed that Area 2 was leading in all facets of Tabling, especially, community service, projects & fellowships. Out of 17 active Tables, 12 Tables are 100% LMF, a fantastic achievement to add new 100% LMF and maintain 100% LMF by all the tables.

The mega fund raiser by MRT1 & mega tie-up by MCRT94 with Ford for long term projects around the Maraimalai Nagar area are something which Area 2 can boast of for some time - undoubtedly the largest fund raisers ever by any Table in a single year.

The AEX did have a much wanted interval as well where Area IT Convenor Tr.Sandy was seen taking a serious nap.

April 2014 LAPD @ MERT30MERT30 conducted a short LAPD session on “Impor tance of your Vote” , a presentation by Sq.Leg Karthik of 82. The timing of the session was apt as it was taken up just before the election season.

LAPD @ MSRT159MSRT159 too had a session on the “Importance of your vote” and the session was well appreciated by the tablers. Certain facts revealed by Sq.Leg.karthik did surprise the audience. A good learning session to convert to practice.

A2 @ IIM-AIIMA was the destination for the budding entrepreneurs @ Area 2 in April. IIM-a in association with the 41ers club of Round Table India, organized an Advanced Wo r k s h o p o n E n t r e p r e n e u r s h i p Development between 7th Apr’14 to 9th Apr’14. The very opportunity of visiting the best Management Institute in India was something which Area 2 tablers couldn’t resist. Tr.Abishek Pesala, Tr.Pankaj Shah & Sq.Leg. Prapanna Nathella participated in this workshop. which was highly appreciated.

A2 @ ELKTRA - TTT ProgramThe Train the Trainer program - Elektra was hosted by Delhi Round Table 5 between 4th Apr’14 to 6th Apr’14. The procedure for selection was a stringent one as only the few top participants from across the country were shortlisted. Tr.Kamal Somani did MSRT123 & Area 2 proud on being selected and attending the program. Thanks to this program, he is all geared up to take up LAPD activities for his table and area to the next level.

April 2014 MERT30Its holiday season, and children often want some form of entertainment to keep themselves busy. MERT30 first donated a carrom board to the inmates of Giriappa Tution centre, an organization which they have been supporting for a few years now. The children were overjoyed when they say a carrom board being gifted to the institution for them.

35 children from the same institute were later taken in a special bus to watch the PC Sorcar Magic Show. The joy on the faces of the young children was a priceless moment and this is what Round Table as a movement stands for - bringing a smile to every child - and MERT30 has done just that.

The children enjoyed the event and the refreshments which followed and were overjoyed as they would not get an opportunity to watch a magic show if it was not for MERT30.

The organizers of the show Priya Culturals & ticketing partners eventjini supported this cause too and passed on the maximum discount to MERT30 once they got to know about the cause associated with this community service activity.

Moreover, the children got to sit in the front few seats, again thanks to the organizers, and these are moments they will cherish for a long time.

At a total contribution of Rs.10,000/- from the table, the event was a huge success, and each child went back with fond memories of the evening.PR

April 2014 MERT30MERT30 on 5th April’14 donated 8 computers with UPS, at a total outlay of 1.41Lakhs, at Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Thiruninravur. Currently the school has a strength of 600 students and with computers becoming a necessity today, the school has a pressing need of these systems for their students. 25 saplings as part of the GO GREEN initiative were planted in the school as well.

MSRT123MSRT123 &MSLC63 along with 8 year old Rhea Kara, residing in the United Kingdom, is undertaking a mammoth task to raise money for the "Reverse Rett" Charity. There is currently no cure for Rett Syndrome.  Rhea learned about an illness called Rett Syndrome at school and after hearing about this ailment she decided to use her hands to paint 100 canvasses in 100 days to raise money to help find a treatment for this awful illness.

MSRT159The Twinklers Club of MSRT159 met at Chairman Tejas' and Cr.Preeti's residence on 13th Apr’14 for an "Arty Crafty Showcase". As the name suggests it was a showcase of art and crafts, but with a small twist. The craft had to be made from waste material found houses and it had to be demonstrated by one Twinkler to all the other members of the twinklers club. The twinklers used everything from waste paper, newspaper, stones, plastic covers, ice cream sticks, unused erasers,old CDs etc and turned them into useful items like boxes, paperweights, decorative items etc. With such a tremendous response, MSRT159 family can take this up as a fund raising activity.PR

April 2014 MWRT10T E N O R S h e a d e d t o L a n k a L a n d (COLOMBO) on 26th & 27th Apr’14 where they partied and showed off their Vices. It was about who outbeats the others vices. An apt destination for Vices with friends, TENORS made sure the trip was worth remembering for years to come.

MERT30The first thing that comes to one`s during April is the FOOLS DAY - A Day when one can play a prank or fool anyone. Keeping this mind 30ers planned a fellowship by dividing the tablers and HTs into 5 groups, each consisting of 5 participants each. The task was to play a prank on any tabler of any table, and one week time had been allotted for all the groups to complete this task. A video and photos were submitted with a report which was used to evaluate what each team was upto, and the the laughter just did not stop, thanks to the funny acts of 30ers trying to find a FOOL in a prey.

On 4th Apr’14, 30ers thronged to catch a glimpse of Captain America. With 23 heads present, this was one successful movie fellowship thanks to the Chennai heat - Tablers wanted to cool off their heels and what a better way to relax and watch a movie.

On the 14th April’14, 30ers were up for a photo fun rally. An all day event for the family, it was a complete entertainer where participants had to click wierd pictures with them it it either with a police with a moustache, or in a dance pose or even making some filter kaapi. The post event munch was a relief for the participants and they relished the snack as much as they enjoyed the rally.FE

2The first thing that comes to one`s mind for April month, is April Fools Day. A Day when you can play a prank or fool anyone you wish to without any hassles.Keeping this mind we planned a fellowship. We divided the tablers and HTs into 5 groups, each group having 5 people.The task was to play a prank on any tabler of any table, and one week time had been allotted for all the groups to complete this task.A video with some photos and report was also told to be prepared as the same can be given to the conveners to judge the winner of the task after one week.

All the groups tried their best but only one winner emerges and that was a group consisting of Trs - Sid Bhaiya, Anant Merathia, Aman Gupta, Prashant Bansal and Special Invitee Vishal Jindal.The prizes were given and their experience was shared in a table meet.

The flag off point was St.George school where everyone had to assemble to get a debrief of the rally hunt.The groups were made family wise, as this way each family gets to enjoy the rally with themselves and spend some quality time together as well.The flag off was done, and every family raced off as they set off on the rally hunt.The surprise package of the rally was there were some tasks given which every family had to complete in order to get extra points. Some of the tasks were quite funny and others were quite interesting, which made the hunt even more thrilling and fun.

April 2014 MERT30On the 25th Apr’14, MERT30 Family were out pubbing at ZARAand witnessed the CSK vs MI IPLT20 match. Thanks to the CSK victory, the tablers had another reason to party longer at Taj Coromandel for a midnight meal.

MSRT3939ers celebrated their Charter night on 11th Apr’14 with a fantastic attendance of Tablers across the area. Sergeant Tr.Kaushal made sure all stay alert and even the trimmer Area Chairman is not spared. The highlight of the evening was the confirmation of MSRT39 bidding for the Change Over Banquet 2015 where NVP Tr.Suman Voora would take over as NP, RTI.

The election fever was high at MSRT39 as Tr. Sarvesh Patel hosted a Youngistaan theme dinner meet at Hotel Park on the 26th Apr’14. All 39ers were dressed up as young politicians indulging in healthy discussions and debates related to politics over cocktails making it a light hearted affair.

It was movie mania at MSRT39, as the tablers organised 3 movie fellowships - Bhoothnath Returns, 2 States and Transedence. If this was not enough, they continued the fellowship spirit at the Hard Rock Cafe on the 28th Apr’14.

MMRT42Family of 42 met at Taj Club house for the social of Tr. Prashant which was an afternoon full of fun and frolic. Many Sq.Legs too were present and caught up with the latest news and gossip at 42.FE

April 2014 MART100Tablers at MART100 kept themselves busy this summer month of Apil, thanks to a host of fellowships and socials like the Dons & Glamour Social, Rain Dance Social & Bday Socials. It was a month of complete fellowships at 100.

MSRT123SKE Lounge is known to be favourable to India / CSK. Since it was a BIG game, 123ers decided to head there to watch the semi-finals between India and SA. It was no secret that India won with style. Watching a match in a group with cream(y) centre snacks and liquids to satiate the thirst was the best experience and the icing on the cake is the favourite team wins when these guys watch the match at this venue. Looks like a favourite hunting ground..oops venue.

VC Tr.AKD hit the bed early and was shocked to hear a ruckus at 12midnight. 123ers stormed into his house and got him out in his shorts and was kidnapped to Anise, Taj Coromandel for his birthday celebration. Tr.Venkat was deprived of his sleep and preferred to take a nap while the food was being ordered.

A few Tablers and Circlers along with Twinklers took off to Singapore / Langkawi to mark the arrival of Twinklers summer holidays. In Singapore - pub hopping, Jurong Bird Park, Singapore Flyer was amongst the attractions visited. Tr.Vikram who travelled as a bachelor shopped more than the 4 circlers. Wonder what was he shopping.:-)FE

April 2014 MSRT123Universal Studios was the next hop for the 123ers where Tr. Vikram was kind enough to pose with several Hollywood stars - Frankenstein, Mummies of Egypt, Shrek, etc. The scenic beaches, lovely swiming pool, picturesque sunrise, lots of beer, hamocks in moonlit nights, kayaking, cyclinng, table tennis, and more ensured that it was a superb holiday for the 123ers. More than the place it was the company that mattered after all.

Tr.Abishek Pesala, fellowship convenor of 123 had his social and in true style valentine style - who said valentines day should be celebrated on 14th Feb only. 123ers indulged in some naughty romantic games, which was truly a laugh riot. The spirits were flowing with all coloured concoctions poured into test tubes that were stuffed into people’s mouths. Overall, it was one unforgettable evening.

Tr.AKD organized a fellowship cum an LAPD session where 3 teams were formed in whatsapp 48 hours before the event and gave instructions to form a political party of their choice and asked them to come out with a campaign for the party. It was amazing to see the enthusiasm by all teams with people coming up with some amazing and whacky ideas like BAAP, PAAP and Dollar & Pounds parties. It was a scene to watch with AKD posing as Arnab Goswami and then Rajat Sharma. Tr.Kaushal Shah was the judge for the evening and he gave up after seeing the riot during the campaigning.

April 2014 MSRT123Post the FTE Project inspection at Vivekananda School in Mel Ayanbakkam, Thiruverkadu, where MSRT123 & MSLC63 is construction 6 classrooms, 123ers headed straight to Saravana Bhavan in Anna Nagar. Tr.Abishek claimed to have been brought up in SB and hence did all the ordering and got to tase dishes which we dint know even existed. We finally called it the day when we ate to our heart’s content.

MSRT159It was time for the Buddies meet @159. Spicers got together on the 2nd Apr’14 at MCC Club and histed the buddies meet for the first time where 5 prospects were invited and Tr.Gitesh briefed them about the tabling movement. A wonderful initiative to spread awareness about the RTI movement.

On the 4th evening stage was set for the big World Cup T20 finals between India and Srilanka , and thus Spicers planned a fellowship to watch the same at Hotel The Park , Screening Room. Though India lost the match, fellowship won.

On 13th Apr’14, Tr.Tejas hosted a GUJJU fellowship lunch at his residence. Looks like the Spicers had an insight on what was in store at the national political level.

MKRT181Tr.Mukesh Sinha had his house warming party at his residence and the 181ers along with their family were present to celebrate this grand moment. Cakes and more were relished by all present for the event. Area 2 wishes Tr.Mukesh the very best for his new home.FE
