January 2014 A2 AEX

The second AEX was held on 22nd January’14 at the office of Area Chairman Tr.Hari Balaji. Thanks to Area 2 this office of his has turned into mini party zone for the A2 tablers.

So what was different about this AEX compared to the previous one? - Well the sergeant Tr.Kavalpreet was in his best elements and made sure the Area Chairman did what he preached - “Do More” or rather was “DOne More” with.

The Chairmen presented their table’s achievements for the previous quarter and shared what was in store the next quarter.

The Food, the drinks and of course the fellowship were at the best with the the Jaffa Champions being felicitated at the AEX.

A special mention was made to felicitate Dr.Achut, the man behind the Sanjeevi foundation - a long term project of MCRT94 and Area 2 supported him by deciding to honour him with GLMF. This is the least the Area could do to appreciate the hard work and commitment towards a social cause.

The fixtures for the upcoming MMRT95’s TOP GUN Vollyball event were decided by a draw of lots by the Area Chairman and the Head Table at the AEX.

January 2014 Mid Term Meet @ Area 2

It all started with Area 2 as one unit supporting our very own Tr.Su(per)Man Voora of MMRT42, currently National Secretary, Round Table India, for his Election campaign for the post of National Vice President for the tabling year 2014-15. The victory called for a celebration by him and what an apt time to celebrate than at the Mid Term Meet in the presence of majority tables present in quorum.

The party planned had every thing one could think of for a celebration which was co-hosted by Area 2 as the MTM night - “More The Merrier" on 25th of Jan’14 at Buckingham Gardens on East Coast Road. The decor for the night and the ambience were spot on, thanks to Tr.George Cherian of MMRT42 for having offered his facility for this meet.

The Bar was as lavish as any royal party serving the best of the mixes and concoctions . The lighting added elegance to the venue and to top it all the music made most of the tablers hit the dance floor, while a few others preferred to define their own dance area.

The party went on till the early hours of 3am where more than 250 tablers and circlers participated. 15 tables were present in quorum and 16 tables hosted this spectacular event along with Area2 and NS.Tr.Suman Voora. Area 2 is referred to a den and indeed is one thanks to the crazy Area2 tablers who define the true meaning of tabling.

January 2014 Area2 conquers JAFFA3 Cup

Area 2 once again brought back the JAFFA Cup - the Annual Inter Area Cricket tournament organized by Area 3 this year at Pune, Maharashtra. The Final match against Area 5 was an easy one with Area 2 winning the match with 5 overs to spare and 9 wickets in hand. As it is said, there is always a lot of hard work which goes in the finished product, the earlier matches were the ones which showcased the temperament of all the teams. The first match for Area 2 was against Area 8 chasing 71 in 12 overs and then the second match agains Area 10 chasing 85 which A2 competed with out a loss of wicket . Thanks to these two victories, Area 2 moved on to the Semi Finals against one of the strongest team in RTI - Area 9 where they made 115 runs and Area 2 chased and won the game which was a nail biting one. The match was a complete entertainer with the spectators calling it an Indo-Pak match. What more entertainment could the spectators, tablers and players ask for.

Tr.Rajesh Shah of MART100 was the best bowler of the tournament and the team played as one unit and DID MORE indeed under the captaincy of one of the newest Tablers Tr.Vasu Deva Das.

There were interesting stories of people with multiple identities traveling for Jaffa 3, and why not - JAFFA is the most coveted tournament in the National Level and all want to be a part of it and play for their Area team isnt it?

January 2014 Area2 @ IIM - AArea2 made their presence felt at the recently concluded LAPD Workshop on Entrepreneurship development at IIM-Ahmedabad where Tr.Sanjay Goel (MERT30), AHT.Punit Sampath (MMRT95) & Tr.Mitesh Bhandari (MSRT159) were the privileged ones to attend the event.

Tr.Sanjay Goel shares his experience with us: “When I read about this on mail sent by Ahmadabad table, I immediately replied to them that I want to be a part of the workshop. After registering for the event and paying , I sat down and thought why am I going for this workshop, is it because it is the latest trend to attend all the Gyan stuff / motivational session or is it the Chairmanship which is making me say yes for everything which is happening in tabling or because this is happening at IIM ? I guess at that point of time I could not decide the reason for me attending the workshop but had a reply by the end of the workshop. It was reliving those college days and days of MBA, classroom, burning mid night oil, sitting with friends, chit chatting, going to the campus canteen in midnight and having Maggie, sneaking out of the classroom for a quick smoke, man it was one hell of time which gets you nostalgic. On the experience I definitely would recommend each and every entrepreneur to be part of this workshop, since it gets you out of the monotony of everyday work life and makes you think in different ways you can look at expanding, managing your very own business and to beat it all you make 30 very good friends. Waiting for more such workshop and I get to understand they are going to start the Advance work shop very soon, looking forward to it.”

January 2014 MMRT95’s TOP GUN Volleyball

Gorgeous New venue, nail-biting finishes, fist-pumps, muscle-flexing, spirits rising on the game and off it, cheering, whistling, creative kids games, mouthwatering food on the house and everything else that one would hope for made Top GUN -2014 another extraordinary fun-filled affair.

TOP GUN, as always, was a great celebration of the wonderful spirit of tabling; a large gathering of families having a great evening together. A couple of new games brought in some novelty to the event from the previous years. A soothing evening breeze ensured a complete beach-side volleyball experience. Some of the highlights of the event were a New venue right next to the beach, a personal invite from MMRT95 to all tables, Trophy volleyball with signatures of all the chairman’s and inter-table conveners, Special RTI Branded Cars showcased at the venue and finally the Go Green Initiative – Plants as gifts for Twinklers.

With over 288 tablers, 13 tables, 18 teams for volleyball, 6 throwball teams, 8 ladies arm wrestlers, 60+ enthusiastic kids trying their hand at sand castle and Hit wicket games, TOP GUN 2014 was not worth a miss. The event was one of the finest inter-table events on a Sunday evening for a complete family - in short a complete entertainer.

Cricket Practice @ Khans with RT30 and RT162 A2CL is round the corner and all tables are taking this tournament seriously. We had booked the nets @ Khans and were pleasantly surprised to see RT30 and RT162 also present. So, we decided to keep  cricket  on  the  side  and  instead  do  fellowship…   As they say, fear management is most important when you play opponents – win them in the mind before you even play a single ball. This is what all of us were trying with showing off our bowling and batting prowess to each other. God knows who got scared of whom??? Irrespective, we had a lot of fun.

January 2014 MERT30New year , new beginnings and new and more fellowships. A grand way to start the new year with the very 1st fellowship of the year at MERT30 - Pongal meets Shankranti. With a count of 70 heads,(breaking all previous records of last year), it definitely was a full house for Table 30 & LC 100. Keeping in mind the u p c o m i n g f e s t i v a l s P o n g a l a n d Shankranti the theme was “KAI PO CHE WITH PONGALA PONGAL” and the dress code was bright colored Indian wear. With beautiful kites adorning the skies and full fledged mouthwatering sapad organized buffet style it was surely fun and frolic all the way. With an open terrace and cool windy climate, the setting was perfect for kite flying and the “manja” did its trick of cutting many a kites – KAI PO CHE.. Beautiful rangoli, pongal styled theme adorned the entrance. Pot painting for the twinklers kept them interested for the first half of the day. The Sapad was organised in buffet style and everyone was relishing the plentiful, sumptous food after a good evening of games and kite flying. Grand way to kickstart the year with a superb fellowship for the entire family of 30 & 100.

MMRT42MMRT42 celebrated the 40th Birthday of Tr.Mahavir in grand style. Even the cake was shaped like a beer mug - so wonder what the party had in store.

MCRT94Nothing can beat a morning walk at the Beach followed by breakfast on a pleasant morning and 94‘ers did just that.

Tr.Imran’s lunch party was yet another memorable afternoon spent by the Tablers and their families.FE

January 2014 MSRT123What happens when you are invited by a Gujju Chairman for lunch at home? The answer is obvious - you are going to be stuffed with the best of Gujju delicacies l i ke d h o k l a , fa f d a , s h e r d i - n o - r a s (sugarcane juice), Undhyo (dont try too hard to pronounce it) and thats what had happened and to top it all up it was strawberry shrikhand which was the highlight of the day. In short all ate and ate and ate till they dropped.

The most romantic tabler of 123 had his birthday and how could the 123ers not celebrate that. Jalpan for dinner on a weekday meant thin croud and the restaurant was all for themselves. Cr. Shweta was told to ask Ram a series of questions to get straight answers from him. Unfortunately, Tr. Vikram sat in front of her and as they say – rest is history.

123ers next headed to Dubai for their BDO (Boys day out). It was an amazing experience with fast driving on the desert slopes by a 4x4 – After the up and down on the desert slopes where Tr.Bharat almost puked (or he just said that to get the more comfortable front seat is a mystery), camel farm and the desert tent awaited them. The belly dancer was so-so and they actually wondered whether she had a bigger belly or Chairman Viral - some competition eh!

The highlight of the BDO trip was the luxury Yatch ride. With a lovely view of the Atlantis and then all were tempted to jump in the water mid sea and they all did. An amazing time spent post the swim thanks to the free flowing wine, vodka and falafel sandwiches.FE

Desert Safari @ Dubai Our annual BDO had cometh. 16 of us were booked to Dubai for a very memorable journey. We took the early morning flight to Dubai and reached by noon. After completing the checking in formalities, we headed to the Desert Safari. It was an amazing experience with fast driving on the desert slopes by a 4x4 – though we all felt that Nitesh drives Audi A6 more dangerously. After the up and down on the desert slopes where Bharat almost puked (or he just said that to get the more comfortable front seat is a mystery), we were taken to a camel farm and then the tent. Some good Arabic food awaited us with specially made paneer for us veggies. The belly dancer was so-so and we actually wondered whether she had a bigger belly or our Chairman. Unfortunately, we could not get them to dance together! The surfing on the sand was different. The hookah and Arabic Coffee was a different experience. Overall, it was a great experience.

Yacht @ the Dubai Marina This was the highlight of our BDO. We had booked a luxury yacht to take us to high sea. Unfortunately, due to bad weather, the coast guard allowed us to go to lagoon only. This turned to be a blessing in hind sight. From where we were docked, we got a lovely view of the Atlantis. One by one all of us decided to jump into the water just to realise how chilly it was. We swan for a while and enjoyed the afternoon. We had taken enough munch on and drink. With good company, an amazing view, great weather and spirited drinks – what can you ask for more!!!

January 2014 MSRT123Breakfast at iHOP (International House of Pancakes) was a test to the apetite of the tablers. Tablers went no holds barred on the breakfast considering the fact that the waffles, pancakes and the shakes were the best as it could get.

In true Doc style, Tr.Kishor Reddy hosted his lunch social at his residence. Cr. Hema used this opportunity to involve the twinklers and organised pot painting. The circlers were nestled at the ground floor while the DEN was reserved for the guys. A few also went to the terrace to occasionally catch a whiff of fresh air.

A bunch of 123ers decided to catch Salmaan Khan in action on the first day. Therefore, they got together at INOX to watch Jai Ho. For some, the popcorn and cola was more important and hence they got the necessary accessories required to watch the movie and sat down with a lot of expectation. The movie let them down, but the pop corn and cola saved their day.

Typical to 123a spontaneous plan to surprise the anniversary couple by landing up with a cake to their house. Tr.Bhushan was ready with the Vodka and being lazy mixed the Vodka-Soda-Sprite concoction in the soda bottle itself. Vikram (a teetotaller) decided to add soda to his Lichi juice and grabed the soda bottle and poured it into the juice in spite of Viral’s mild warnings. it turned to be a high-litchi juice.

Food cannot be kept away from 123ers considering the fact that the current chairman is Tr.Viral. Post the school visit for the project, the boys gulped the Saravana Bhavan delicacies at Ambattur.FE

Social @ Dr.  Kishor’s  Residence With true doc style, he hosted us at his residence. We were all expecting nice Andhra Sapad, but were surprised to see the arrangements. They had made elaborate arrangements with professional dinner tables kept in the front with food catered from outside. Cr. Hema used this opportunity to involve the twinklers and organised pot painting. All the kids had a gala time with this. The circlers were nestled at the ground floor while the DEN was reserved for the  guys.    A  few  also  went  to  the  terrace  to  occasionally  catch  a  whiff  of  fresh  air…   Overall, it was a relaxed and lazy afternoon.

Anniversary Celebrations of Muthu and Kannathal Typical to our table, we made a spontaneous plan to surprise the anniversary couple by landing up with a cake to their house. Luckily for us they were home and just about to call it the night. A bunch of us gate crashed and surprised them. Bhushan was ready with the Vodka and being lazy mixed the Vodka-Soda-Sprite concoction in the soda bottle itself. Breakfast @ IHOP We were on a walk the previous night along the marina and saw the IHOP (International House of Pancakes) about 500m from our hotel. It was immediately decided that we all would go here for breakfast. The place did not disappoint us. With lovely waffles, pancakes, sandwiches, and crepes, it had enough to feed us for the whole day. It was surely going to be a long day as we had our flight in the late evening. All of us were both happy and sad – happy because we had a wonderful time bonding in Dubai and sad because we had to leave and get back to reality within 24 hours.

Snacks @ Saravana Bhavan @ Ambattur Food cannot be kept away from we guys . We were off to see a few schools @ Thiruverkadu for a possible project and the exhaustion of this made us hungry. Some of us had not even had lunch. So, Bharat ordered an array of delicacies to feed the hungry souls. As you can see, the smiles on our faces.

January 2014 MKRT181181ers got together for a couple of practice sessions to prepare for A2CL. Some of the practice sessions were followed by a relaxing drink. Fellowship was high during these practice sessions.

Tr. Sunil Bajaj and Esha Bajaj came up with a novel idea for their party, "Let's party with the less fortunate". 200 kids of Siragu Montessori School, MKRT 181's long term FTE project school, on Sunday morning came to this party with no clue as to what was in stock for them. They were elated when they saw a whole lot of entertainment lined up for them. As soon as they entered the kids thronged to the stall of their choice. Pop Corn, Cotton Candy, Chocolate Fountain, Bouncy Castle, Tatoo Painting, Baloon Shooting and a few other games gave the ambience of a carnival to the kids. This was followed by a magic show. The DJ started his music and the kids had a blast dancing to t h e r y t h m o f m u s i c . T h e y w e r e spontaneous and didn't hesitate a bit to show off their moves. This was followed b y T a r e Z a m e e n P a r, a d r aw i n g competition for the kids. The jury of this competition were awed by the creativity shown by the kids and had a tough time choosing the winners. The kids were served good quality lunch and were the first ones to taste a new brand of international ice cream that was yet to be launched in Chennai. Thanks to Tr. Kishore of 123 who made sure that this ice cream was served to the kids before its launch. The kids became more energitic after the lunch continued dancing. The entire hall was high in energy. The prize distribution of Tare Zameen Par recognized kids with talent. The kids had a lot to carry back, their hands were full with goodies. FE
