Distinctive Characteristics of Dong-A Corrugated Stainless Steel Tube

Dong-A keeps welding bead width of stainless steel tube less than 0.7mm, so that thickness of welding bead can stay the same as thickness of

the parent material.

Also, we make the corrugated stainless steel tube with minimum Slip Band Martensite of the metal structures that happens during the

corrugation forming under the optimum condition after locally applying heat treatment to the weld bead and heat affected area.

As the forming of the corrugated stainless steel tubes are conducted from external to internal (center line), the width of the valley area is

inevitably thin. Then, the thinned area is mostly affected by the metal fatigue during vibration or vending expansion-contraction or banding,

which creates crack corrosion and decreases its life span. Against this backdrop, while it applies the buckling forming (distortion forming) to

supplement its weakness, corrugated tube is formed at the temperature condition to minimize cold work hardening of the austenite stainless

steel. Hence, the corrugated tubes manufactured by Dong-A are the most advanced ones by minimizing the thickness change ratio of the peak

and valley, and work hardening

As corrugated stainless steel generates huge amount of work hardening during the forming process, the degree of hardness is increased more

than 50% and create the Slip band Martensite. Then, the physical disposition and anti-corrosiveness of stainless steel become weak, so that it is

necessary to conduct Solution Heat Treatment except for special usage.

The existing solid solution heat treatment method has inevitably uneven heat treatment effects because the cooling water temperature may be

changed due to the seasonal change, the variability in daily temperature, and the heat capacity of the treated materials.

The corrugated tubes manufactured by Dong-A is automatically controlled its cooling water temperature using the freezing machine, which

maintains the set temperature evenly regardless of the external conditions and allows its stable heat treatment effects (standardizing the effects

of heat treatment)

In case of welded joints, brazing welding of the fitting (of Dong-A's stainless steel flexible joint) is done at the same time during the solution

heat treatment for the flexible tube in the solution heat treatment furnace. As a result, it has new technology (NEP) to prevent corrosion by

welding stresses. And in case of the screw connection method at the joint, it provides an excellent sealing effect and anti-corrosiveness by using

the insulated and durable materials, with simple sealing structure

These corrugated tubes are made of stainless steel or copper and are named as stainless corrugated tube, metal bellows,

stainless flexible tube or metal hose.

Flexible tubes are used as flexible joints absorbing vibration of piping system and dislocation of the pipes. They are also used

for gas pipes inside buildings and pipes for drinking water.

Metal flexible tubes are classified into two types: annular type and helical type. A tube of annular type has an excellent

flexibility and is easy to be connected with joint while it has a drawback of strong fluid resistance. A tube of helical type is not

as flexible as annular type tubes and connection with the joints is quite complicated. But it has less fluid resistance compared

with annular type tube and has an excellent spring characteristics. So, one of the two types can be selected and used depending

on the usage.

Dong-A's stainless steel corrugated tubes, which is approved by UL(USA), RWTUV(Germany) and is certified as quality products

with NET, KS(KSD3628) by the Korean government, are supplied in a roll up to 1,200m and used for water piping system inside

buildings. The corrugation pitch is slightly wider to reduce the fluid resistance and thus generate no vibration or noise. It

connects with screw-in-field type of fitting with cone packing (NBR, E.P.D.M, Silicon, Graphite).

Fitting Assembly Guidelines

Step 2 : Remove Burr on Tube End

Use stainless steel brush to remove all burron tube cut-end.

Step 3 : Assemble Nut

Put nut onto tube.

Step 4 : Assemble Clamp Thread Ring

Put clamp thread ring on tube and screw in clock-wise.

Step 1 : Cut Tube

Cut tube at right angle to tube length usingan electric tube cutter.Make sure the cut end to be clean and flat.

Step 6 : Tighten Helical Type Clamp Thread Ring and Packing

Tighten Clamp Thread ring to meet threaded cone packing and fix it.(Double Nut Tightening)

Step 7 : Assemble Socket

Put sealant on tapered thread of brass socket, then screw the socket into pipingsystem or boiler with high torque using acrescent wrench.

Step 5 : Assemble Threaded Cone Packing

Screw threaded cone packing onto tube untilit doesn't spin anymore. (Do Not screw thepacking by force)

Step 8 : Assemble Fitting

Make a whole assembly set of tube, nut,stopper ring, DO NOT use sealant on parallelthread of unino nut!

Step 9 : Tighten Nut

Tighten up the nut and complete the fitting assemble

Dong-A's stainless steel corrugated tubes, which are approved by UL(USA), RWTUV(Germany) and are certified as quality

products with NET, KS(KSD3628) by the Korean government, are supplied in a roll up to 1,200m for easy speedy inexpensive

installation. As no connecting point exists on the tubes except both ends of the tube, there is no fear of leakage. The screw-in

type connection with NBR, EPDM, Silicon, or Copper packing doesn’t require any tool for installation.

Step 2 : Remove Pipe Jacket

Strip the yellow piple jacket back 3~4

valleys from the end of the tubing.

Use a utility knife, DO NOT USE A TUBE

CUTTER.

Step 3 : Assemble Flange Nut

Slide Flange Nut over the tubing with the

thread end pointing toward the end of

tubing. Make sure the flange of the nut

to cover the yellow jacket and secure the

tubing

Step 4 : Place Clamp Ring

Open the ring wide enough to fit in the

groove behind the first or second ring and

use pliers to clamp the brass ring in place.

Make sure to put pressure with pliers all

180°around on the ring, so the ring can

stay tight and doesn' t spin around on the

tubing.

Step 1 : Cut Pipe To Length

Cut the pipe to the desired length, leaving 1

inch for placement of the fitting attachment

Use stainless steel tube cutter. Clean any

jagged edges or burrs.


Put sealing solution on tapered thread

of socket. Screw tapered male thread of

the socket into female thread of piping

systme or boiler, and tighten clockwise with

maximum torque using a crescent wrench.

Step 6 : Get Fitting Ready To Assemble

Make sure a clamp ring & flange nut

assembled properly on the tubing, and copper

plate stays firmly inside the socket.

Step 7 : Tighten Up Flange Nut

Put the female parallel thread of the flange

nut onto the male parallel thread of the

socket. Use a crecsent wrench to tighten up

the flange nut clockwise with high torque

upto the end of the male parallel thread.

Endless roll type of helical type corrugated tube, which is approved by UL(USA), RWTUV(Germany) and is certified only as a

quality product with NET, KS(KSD3628) by the Korean government, is the ideal product for a heat exchanger.

The plate pincoil for a heat exchanger is expensive as its manufacturing process is very complicated, and weak in corrosion.

Hence, it is increasingly replaced by the helical type corrugated tubes for a heat exchanger developed by Dong-A, which has a

Fire-fighting sprinkler flexible joint (Model-008)

Conventional sprinkler joints have more than 6 spots of jointing with the risk of water leakage as their elbow and reducer are

assembled and connected after screw processing is done on the tips of the both sides of a steel pipe. It is quite hard to adjust

location of the sprinkler head up or down or right or left. Also, installation of the equipment on the narrow ceiling requires

high-skilled construction workers and long time due to the obstacles of the structure such as air-cooling, heating ducts,

electricity and communications facilities.

Sprinkler flexible joints supplied by Dong-A has obtained quality certification from UL, FM(USA), VdS(Germany), FESC(Japan)

and KFI(Korea), and are used for high pressure as their nipples, reducer, and stainless steel flexible tubes are all combined in

one body. With only two joint points, the risk of water leakage has greatly reduced. And as it is flexible, even unskilled workers

will find it easy to work with the tubes. It can cut down installation costs dramatically with the time spent for the construction

greatly reduced by more than 20 times than that of steel pipe type. With the quality certificate obtained in U.S.A., Britain,

Germany, and Japan, the high quality of this sprinkler system has been widely proven.

Distinctive Characteristics

First

As Dong-A's stainless steel flexible joint has width of the weld bead with less than 0.7㎜, thickness of the weld bead part is

the same as that of the parent material. Also, as corrugation is formed after heat-treatment of the welding part (bead part

and welding heat affected part), the Slip band Martensite is minimized. The best corrugated tubes have been used with

standardized heat treatment based on the advanced technology.

Second

If the corrugated tube and fitting (reducer or nipples) are connected with the screw, stray current corrosion due to the electric

potential difference is prevented and the tube is protected against the electric spark during the work. As length of the nut is

a limit screw(10.5㎜ length), and the rectangle packing and the 45 degree angle slope surface are sealed tightly, even unskilled

workers will find it easy to work with the tubes. If the tubes are connected by welding(SPN, SPNB, SPW, SPWB), as heat

treatment for the flexible tube in the solution treatment furnace is done simultaneously while conducting welding thus has

increased its anticorrosiveness without any welding tension caused by the welding heat.

20 kinds of brackets suitable for the sealing board bar(bar & grid) which is installed in a structure have been developed and

supplied in a set. And a set of sprinkler flexible joint for an apartment is also provided.

Our helical corrugated tube for Solar Thermal system is approved by UL(USA), RwTuv(Germany), NET(New Excellent Technology

in Korea) & KS(Korea Standard), which means product quality is approved with reliability.

Supplied Endless or Roll Drum type length from 25m to 300m

It is used as plumbing material for Solar hot water collector system in 3 different usage such as for heat-collecting pipe(black

nickel plated tube) in the collector, water sending & returning tube between collector and hot water storage tank and Stainless

steel corrugated heat exchanger coil in the hot water storage tank. Assembly at site is very simple and we’ve developed

superb heat-resistance(350℃) thread-assembly type fitting which is world-first product.

Distinction of product

- First : No leakage occurs even in 50,000 times of repetition test of heating(200℃) & cooling(-30℃).

- Second : Stainless steel 316L that is corrosion resistant against Anti freezing solution (Calcium chloride, Sodium chloride)

is used to prevent corrosion.

- Third : Helical type corrugation tube does not generate any vibration or noise of the tube.

- Forth : Assembly is more convenient than Copper tube(no welding work needed) and the price is about 40% cheaper than

Copper tube.

- Fifth : Thickness of Copper tube, heat-exchange coil inside of heat-storage tank, is 0.8mm while stainless steel corrugation

tube thickness is 0.3mm. Heat-exchange surface of stainless steel corrugation tube is about 40% larger than Copper tube,

which lead 33% reduction of heat-exchange coil length

In case of steel thermal thank, both ends of heat exchanger coil are brazing-welded to male or female nipple which is to be

connected by welding to the tank. In case of synthetic resin tank (plastic tank), both ends of heat exchanger coil are brazing-

welded to male or female nipple which is to be connected by screw fitting ststem to the tank. (Regarding these connecting

methods, please refer to model 006).
