1 Thessalonians 3:1-5Wednesday NightDecember 4, 2013

  1 Therefore, when we could no longer endure it, we thought it good to be left in 

Athens alone,

 

Acts 17:13-1513 But when the Jews from Thessalonica

learned that the word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came

there also and stirred up the crowds. 14 Then immediately the brethren sent Paul

away, to go to the sea; but both Silas and Timothy remained there. 15 So those who

conducted Paul brought him to Athens; and receiving a command for Silas and Timothy to come to him with all speed,

they departed.

Acts 21:26-3126 Then Paul took the men, and the next

day, having been purified with them, entered the temple to announce the

expiration of the days of purification, at which time an offering should be made

for each one of them. 27 And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews

from Asia, seeing him in the temple, stirred up the whole crowd and laid hands

on him, 28 crying out, "Men of Israel, help! This is the man who teaches all men

everywhere against the people, the law, and this place; and furthermore he also brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place." 29(For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian

with him in the city, whom they supposed

that Paul had brought into the temple.) 30 And all the city was disturbed; and the

people ran together, seized Paul, and dragged him out of the temple; and

immediately the doors were shut. 31 Now as they were seeking to kill him, news

came to the commander of the garrison that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

Matthew 5:10-1210 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for

My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven,

for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

2 and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith,

 

Revelation 2:8-118 "And to the angel of the church in

Smyrna write, 'These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life: 9 "I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the

blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10 Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil

is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have

tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. 11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who

overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death." '

3 that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that 

we are appointed to this. 

Romans 8:14-1714 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you

did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of

adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba,

Father." 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and

joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

2 Timothy 1:8-128 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His

prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the

power of God, 9 who has saved us and

called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own

purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, 10 but has now been revealed by the appearing

of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has

abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 to which I was appointed a preacher,

an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. 12 For this reason I also suffer these

things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

1 Peter 4:19"Therefore let those who suffer according

to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful

Creator"  

4 For, in fact, we told you before when we were with you that we would suffer tribulation, just as it happened, and you 

know.  

Acts 17:5-65 But the Jews who were not persuaded, becoming envious, took some of the evil

men from the marketplace, and gathering a mob, set all the city in an uproar and

attacked the house of Jason, and sought

to bring them out to the people. 6 But when they did not find them, they

dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, "These who have turned the world upside down have

come here too.

5 For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest 

by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor might be in 

vain.

Luke 4:1-91 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy

Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2

being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and

afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. 3 And the devil said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread." 4 But Jesus

answered him, saying, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every

word of God.' " 5 Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him

all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to

Him, "All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to

me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all

will be Yours." 8 And Jesus answered and said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan! For it is

written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.' "
