DescriptionDoppelmayr-ZF GPW series III gears are three-stage bevel plane-
tary gearboxes used for cruise control of cablecars.
The different sizes of our standard range can be used in two
mounting positions and at various angles.
Depending on the mounting position and gear ratio, the gear-
boxes are operated with or without oil cooling.

GeneralAll gearboxes are generally splash-lubricated. The gearbox
GPW 395 requires an injection lubrication. Some components
are additionally supplied with oil by oil splasher disks. The
assembly of a mechanically driven oil pump is not required.
Overhead DriveIn overhead drives, the planetary stages, the bevel gear stage
and the emergency drive have a common oil chamber. Leak oil
that could escape on the sealing ring of the drive shaft after
many operating hours, is collected in a separate oil chamber
and passes through a drainage hole to the outside
and can then be collected in a container. An oil drip pan
ensures sufficient lubrication of the top-mounted rolling bear-
ing even at low speeds. At speeds below 700 rpm, an addi-
tional lubricating oil pump is required.
Underfloor DriveUnderfloor drives partially have two separate oil chambers to
reduce power dissipation. Leak oil which may escape at the
seal between the two oil chambers is directed to the outside.
The amount of the leak oil should be observed at a catcher
container provided with a sight glass. Small amounts in the
container - max. half the oil level - over a season are allowed.
