Visits to Austrian companies Doppelmayr and ALPLA

On March 30th, Ambassador Alicia Buenrostro Massieu visited Doppelmayr and ALPLA, two of Austria's largest companies in the Federal State of Vorarlberg. She met CEO Michael Doppelmayr at Doppelmayr's headquarters in Wolfurt. The company was founded in 1892 and is a world leader in the production of cable cars for winter tourism, urban mobility solutions and material handling. The Ambassador also visited the company ALPLA -founded in 1955 and headquartered in Hard-, which is a European leader in the production of plastic packaging.

Both companies are an example of successful Austrian enterprises -leading in the world market in their respective specialized sectors-, which operate locations in Mexico.

Promotional seminar on the Pacific Alliance in Bratislava

On March 22nd, a seminar on investment and business opportunities in the countries of the Pacific Alliance took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia. The event was jointly organized with the Slovak economic agency SARIO. The Slovak Foreign Ministry presented a study on economic opportunities for Slovakia in the Pacific Alliance and the Ambassador of Mexico gave a keynote speech, highlighting the importance of the Alliance as an example for economic opening in a global atmosphere where protectionism is making progress. The event was attended by more than 80 people, mostly Slovak businessmen, and representatives from the Ministries of Economy, Finance, Regional Development, Agriculture, Environment, Culture, Education and Sports.

Concert of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra at the Konzerthaus Vienna

On April 28th, the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Marco Parisotto, gave a very successful concert at the concert hall Konzerthaus Vienna, accompanied by the percussion ensemble Tambuco. The orchestra interpreted several pieces of music by Mexican composers of the 20th century, such as "Redes: Suite" by Silvestre Revueltas; The "Danzón No. 2" by Arturo Márquez; and

"Metal de Tréboles" by Javier Álvarez; but also Johannes Brahms's Symphony No. 1 in C minor was received with great enthusiasm by the public.

Literature Tuesday at the Cultural Institute of Mexico

On April 25th, the Ambassador inaugurated the first Literture Tuesday of the series "Mexican Stories" at the Cultural Institute of Mexico (ICM). Gustavo Torres and translator Eva Srna read texts by Itzel Guevara del Ángel and Ignacio Solares in Spanish and German, respectively. The second Literature Tuesdays of this bilingual series will take place at the Central Library of Vienna (Hauptbücherei am Gürtel) on June 13th, with the participation of Mexican author Enrique Serna.

Music Friday with violinist Erika Cano Magdaleno

On May 12th at 7:00 p.m., we cordially invite you to the second Music Friday at the ICM (Türkenstrasse 15, 1090 Vienna). Mexican violinist Erika Cano Magdaleno and violoncellist Héctor Jasso will play music by Bach, Moncayo, Paganini, Resch and Stern. Please make reservation: [email protected]. Limited seats. Tourism Competitiveness Index

Today, Mexico's tourism sector is more competitive, which has been confirmed by the fact that from 2013 to 2017, the country has climbed 22 ranks in the index of the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report published by the World Economic Forum, which places Mexico as 22nd in the world ranking, narrowing the gap to countries like the US and Canada. During the 2017 edition of the World Economic Forum in Argentina, it was emphasized

Business event at the Residence of Mexico

An informal meeting with Austrian businesspeople interested in Mexico took place at the Official Residence of Mexico in Vienna, on April 18th. The invitation was extended jointly with the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ, for its acronym in German). Ambassador Alicia Buenrostro Massieu and the Head of Chancery of the Embassy offered a presentation on the prospects of NAFTA negotiations and on the Mexican principles that will guide the country's position in these negotiations. The

commercial office Proméxico in Germany provided information on business and investment opportunities in Mexico.

Visit to Austrian company Voestalpine

On April 12th, the Ambassador visited Austrian company Voestalpine in Linz with the aim of learning more about its activities and meeting the CEO and other executives. Voestalpine is one of the leading Austrian investors in Mexico. It owns eight facilities and its annual profit sums up to 62 million euros.
