Introduction

General Information • In 1941 Setsen Khan Provence was renamed Dornogovi province.• In 1942 parliament merged Airag soum with Dornogovi province. • Airag soum consists of Nard, Sain-us, Nuden, and Tsagaanndurvulj.

The average population of Airag is 3583 people consisting of 1108 families.

• Airag soum has the 3rd largest population and is the 8th largest soum by area in Dornogovi provence.

• Airag soum has the greatest density of people in Dornogovi Provence.

Location

• Airag is located in the northern part of Dornogovi. • The distance from Ulaanbaatar to Airag soum is 350km.• The distance from the Sainshand to Airag soum is 124 km.• Airag soum shares borders with two other provences and six other soums total. In the

west Dundgovi Aimag Undurshil soum. In the Northeast Henti Aimag Darkhan soum. With in Dornogovi amiag Airag soum boarders with Dalanjargalan soum, Ekh het soum, Altan shiree, and Saikhdulaan.

Environment and Special Geography

• Special Geography- Airag soums elevation ranged from sea level to 1073 km. It is located in a semi desert environment. It is also part of the Stepp. Despite that it is part of the stepp Airag soum has rich soil and fertile grass lands. The grass is used for medicinal purposes in humans and animals alike.

• The whole of Airag soum’s land is mineral rich. There are many mineral deposits that can be found around Airag soum. There is a large mining community in Airag soum. There is also a large cash of Lime stone and Ornamental rock.

Environment/Climate

• The average precipitation per year in Airag soum is 110mm. In the winter there is an average of .04 mm, in summer an average of 40.9mm, the rest of the average precipitation is spread out between Spring and fall.

• The average wind speed is 6-12 msp. During the spring and autumn the average wind speed increases to 28-35 msp. The wind mainly blows in from the west.

• During the summer the temperature can reach as high as 40c. Whereas in the winter it plummets down to -31.8c.

Transportation and Electricity

• Transportation- Connecting between China and Russia is the Trans Mongolian Railroad. There is also a paved road that connects all of the sub-soums of Airag soum.

• Electricity- Airag soum has central power. It is connected to the public power grid. Airag soum is also home to a Power station. Which produces 110/35/10 kb.

Culture and Sports

• The culture center was built in 1954. It houses 130 theater seats and was constructed from stone. There are five people who currently maintain and work at the culture center.

• There are many events hosted at the culture center. It is used for concerts, performances, clubs, and it even houses a library.

• Airag coum has 48 different small shops. 3 restaurants, 2 beauty shops, a seamstress, and one shower house.

• Airag soum’s 12 year secondary school is home to a full gym that hosts many events.

Recent structural development.The hospital and an Elementary school

The hospital is home to two resident doctors with advanced training. 5 nurses and has a total of 20 staff. The hospital has 10 beds. The hospital was rebuilt in 2008 through the helping hand of the health ministry. The hospital has central power and heating. One room can house up to 3-4 patients. The kindergarten was built in 1012. It can have as many as 200 student at one time , but currently is home to 150 students. It also has 22 teachers and is located in District 1.

Airag Railway StationAirag soum consists of three districts. The railway station was created

in 1953. It originally only had 33 full time workers now there are many.

Airag Soums 12yr. Secondary School

•The school a total of 25 different classes. Ranging from 12th Grade to 1st grade. It houses 674 students. The upper management Consists of 4 people our Directory, two managers, and a social worker. There are 35 teachers, 15 other staff. Airag’s 12yr school has been awarded awards from the Education of ministry. 5 of the classes have been certified, Foreign language, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, History, and three primary classes Mongolian, Mathematics, and Environmental science.

New Government Implemented Program

First Objective: Person development of our students. Second Objective: Academic achievement and development of other talents. According to these objectives our school offers 25 different types of clubs

and after school activities. Such as dance, music, songs clubs, sports clubs, and life skills. All of these clubs promote creativity and development for our students. The number of students involved in clubs is around 500.

We also composed an analysis of our 1st-12th grade students to asses what talent programs should be implemented at our school. The people involved in the analysis were teachers and students parents.

According to the new book program we are doing a lot of events surrounding it. Such as doing book reports, competing in essay contests about the books, speeches surrounding the material they read and even putting on production of the books them selves.

Our schools students attend and compete in sports competitions. The competitions are

Country wide. The picture below is of the ankle bone club. The teach for this club is

The picture below is of the free wresting club. The teacher E.Ariunbayar. This allows our students to express there creativity and

talent in a high energy way. There are currently about 30 students.

Checkers/Chess Club – It is specifically based on the logical movement and placement of the pieces. It also develops

communication skills. Once a week students through out the school plays checkers/ chess. The teacher is Gantsooj.

Time and Environment

• The Eco-club. • Currently has 15 members and one

lead. The leader name is A.Otgonbayar (9a)• The clubs teacher is D.Bymbasuren.• The club was founded in 2012.

Our Eco-Team

The eco-club grows and maintains flower in the biology classroom to help promote a healthier

environment for their fellow students.

The club member’s harvested the next years seeds and prepared the schools planters for growing season. They also are continuing to grow flowers and cleaning the maintaining the

flowers in the classroom during summer holiday. The eco club has also been advertising eco-friendly activities around our soum. Further more also for our province as a whole.

Our class is the 7th grade of teacher is D.Bymbasuren that we connected the other

school.

Our eco club shares with our 7a student about had how we affect our environment over time and the

importance of taking care of how instead of their.19 of our students in grade 7a competed in the art

competition. Having to incorporate key elements of the falcon conservation project in to the art work. Such as the green boxes that are being made for the falcons to

nest in and of course the falcons themselves. The submissions were sent in to the leader of the

competition Sarangerel.

Our students are very interested in the lesson.
