We supply fruit and vegetables from some of Dorset’s Largest grow-
ers. With over 150 varieties grown, produce is available for most of the year but of course depends very much on the season. We start in early spring with as-paragus and rhubarb, followed by strawberries and soft fruit through the summer. The strawberries will go on until October and apples will be with us until after Christmas. Some of our specialities include fresh watercress and baby leaf salads from The Watercress Company, all grown locally, with the mix forever changing with the season.

Washingpool farm is a family ran farm which was established in 1971. The farm is situated just outside of Bridport, which sits on the end of a sand belt which runs from Somerset to the Sea. Consequently the free draining soil is ideal for growing vegetables, salads and soft fruits, as it can be worked most of the year.

love it fresh We’re growing and harvesting fresh wasabi in Britain, using traditional Japanese methods. Native to Japan and notoriously difficult to grow, we labour for two years over our wasabi crop to get it ready to grate and eat. That’s how long it takes to grow Sawa wasabi, the purest, sweetest, hottest and healthiest wasabi. Sawa refers to the flowing water that wasabi likes best, accustomed as it has become over centuries, to growing beside cool mountain streams.

Trevor Craig and his family have been farming in Osmington, Dorset since 1967. Their aim is to produce the highest quality milk from their own cows in the most environmentally friendly way with animal welfare at the top of their priorities.
The cows are fed on a natural diet of grass and clover in the summer, spring and au-tumn. With this natural diet and relaxed atmosphere the cows produce milk which is rich and creamy.
All the milk is pasteurised and processed on the farm which has given them total traceability from start to finish.

Mere Park Creamery, located in the Blackmoor Vale, in an area synonymous with quality dairy farming. This is were their purebred East Friesland ewes– their loving cared for girls– thrive on lush quality grassland. The milk they produce is not only great tasting with a rich and creamy flavour but is also full of natural goodness. Sheep’s milk is the perfect alternative for many people who are
allergic to cow’s or goat’s milk, providing the much needed calcium for strong bones and
essential vitamins for a healthy lifestyle. Being naturally homogenised, it’s easier to digest
than other milks, and is higher in protein, calcium phosphorous, zinc, folic acid and vitamins, than cow’s and goat’s milk. Their ewe’s milk also makes delicious artisan cheeses, all made

Year 2016– has been matured for at least 12 weeks to produce a fantastically creamy flavour.

The Dorset Dairy Co is a new venture based in the Blackmore Vale set up by Dan and Alex to process the milk from the family dairy farm. They make strained yoghurt, more widely known as Greek or “Greek-style” Yoghurt, but with a Dorset twist.

After launching in September 2016, the Dorset Dairy Co has been short-listed for Best Dairy Producer in the Taste of Dorset Awards.
Dorset Strained Yoghurt is created using nothing but natural ingredients and traditional techniques. Containing only milk (over three litres for every litre of yoghurt) and carefully selected live bio cultures, they produce a yoghurt that is thick, creamy and packed with dairy goodness yet low in sugar.
Their yoghurt makes for a tasty yet healthy breakfast but is also a versatile ingredient. It is intended for the health conscious consumer who is willing to pay a premium for a healthier product with a clear provenance. They currently make the yoghurt on Mondays and pot it on Tuesdays from which point the product has a 3 week shelf life. Our whole milk and fat free yoghurts are available as a snack pot, family tub or a catering tub.

The Unique Dorset Blue Vinny Cheese is made at Woodbridge Farm, situated in the heart of Dorset near Sturmin-ster Newton. This subtle tangy blue has a wonder-fully light, melt-in-the-mouth creaminess. It is an pasteurised cheese, made with milk from their own herd of Friesian cows. Mike Davies resurrected the recipes some 30 years ago-they are the only produc-ers of Dorset Blue Vinny, and hold the protected geographical indication for the cheese

Tregonwell A lovely aged Caerphilly style cheese, as with all the cheeses it is made with unpasteurised cows milk and animal rennet. Although matured like Old Harry and encased in a natural rind, this cheese is much crum-blier and creamier with a more subtle taste. Per Kilo

Lyburn Gold This is a creamy smooth, washed curd cheese that has very small holes evenly distributed throughout and is matured for 2 to 3 months. Mellow and delicate in fla-
vour and melts beautifully
Winchester This is matured for around 9 months and thus has a stronger
flavour and much firmer texture than Lyburn Gold. This cheese retains an element of creaminess blended with a subtle
nuttiness in flavour
Lightly Oak Smoked The smoked is based on Lyburn Gold, still a washed
curd cheese. The smoke does not overwhelm the cheese and is no more than a background flavour.
Lyburn Garlic and Nettle This cheese is made to the same recipe as the gold, but it is not
matured for quite so long. As the name suggests, there is a hint of garlic and onion , the nettle is what gives the cheese its colour
Stoney Cross This cheese is produced in a 3kg wheel and is mould
ripened not dissimilar to the French Tomme De Savoie. It is creamy and buttery in texture with sweet flavours and a distinctly earthy finish, very much a cheese board cheese
that will suit most tastes
Old Winchester This a much dryer and harder cheese, becoming more
reminiscent of an Old Amsterdam. It has a distinctive nut-tiness in flavour and is produced with vegetarian rennet. This 5kg cheese is aged for around 18 months, used in
some instances as a substitute for Parmesan.

James discovered his passion for cheese in 1988, aged 16. After working closely with cheese producers and sellers he decided it was time to start to create his own cheese, so in 2009 he moved to beautiful Dorset. He has been working closely with Lyburn Cheese and Chalke Valley Cheese to develop a new exciting range of British washed rind cheeses. These cheeses are made at Lyburn and Chalke Val-ley dairies and matured in his specialised washed rind maturing room in Child Okeford, Dorset.
Burwood Bole Unpasteurised Cows Milk Cheese made in a log shape. It’s made in collabora-
tion with Chalke Valley Cheese and is matured in a washed rind room in Child Okeford, Dorset. It is a semi– hard cheese which has a slightly firmer texture in the centre. It has lemony undertones and a sweet nutty taste.
Little Colonel This cheese is loosely based on French Livarot. A semi-soft cheese, made at Lyburn Cheesemakers exclusively for James’s. The cheese is
matured down in Child Okeford for 6-8 weeks undergoing a complex washed rind maturation process.
Francis This is a washed rind cheese, washed in a traditional French culture. The young fresh cheeses are mature for 8 –10 weeks in a specialised temperature and humidity controlled maturing rooms.

With over 5 generation of farming experience, the cousins family proudly hand rear Aberdeen Angus and Hereford cows on their family farm in Tarrant Rawston, Dorset. Along with locally sourced pork and lamb, all the meat is expertly cut by hand, leaving only the best meat and fat for taste. Tarrant Valley beef is sourced from cattle that are grazing for most of the year on the naturally lush and mineral rich grass of the valley. In the depth of winter they are housed in dry conditions where they continue to be fed a natural diet. Their beef is matured and hung on the bone for at least 21 days, which allows the fibres of the meat to break down . This natural process makes their beef incredibly tender and it is how the meet gets its old fashioned flavour

Our Chicken Piddle Valley chicken are given time to grow slowly on a traditional diet with corn and grass giving them their traditional chicken taste, golden colour and succulent meat. They live in large grassy paddocks in small flocks with plenty of room to flap around. Our chicken have 24 hour access to food and water and also enjoy foraging for bugs amongst the clover- They’re
happy! Piddle Valley Chicken have custom made houses for protection from the ele-ments and Mr Fox, these houses are also mobile so we can easily move to fresh ground which maintains hygiene standards. The Farmer Dorset born Kevin Froud from a young age showed an interest in all things feathered keeping chicken, ducks and even Quail. From the age of 8 he ran a successful enterprise selling eggs and would de-liver in the local area on his bike. In later years Kev attended Sparsholt College to study Game Keeping and the Ecology of Deer later secure employment on Sandring-ham Estate. Kev started rearing chicken for the table several years ago producing a small number for friends and family to enjoy and things have grown from there. Now with the help of his wife Jenna and the 3 Labradors (Nettle, Fern & Barley) he produces birds of the highest quality. Processing Welfare standards are very important to us when rearing our chicken and also during slaughter which is why we choose to process all of our chicken ourselves, by hand and on site. This not only reduces the stress caused to the birds during transporta-tion but most importantly we can ensure the birds have been treated humanely. Kev has his slaughterman’s licence so bird are dispatched of swiftly and effectively with
little stress. The killing of animals is never a pleasant job but we feel this is a re-sponsible approach.

The Dorset Game Larder was started in October 2007 as a diversification enterprise from their main farming business, buying all types of game from local Dorset Shoots as well as utilising their own. The game is then plucked or butchered and packed ready for sale.

Portland Oyster Farm
Since Roman times to the present day, Portland Oysters have been favoured by generations. There has been an Oyster farm in the Fleet for 30 years, which is currently ran by the Crab House Cafe on Portland, Dorset.
The Oysters that are grown are Pacific Oyster Crassostrea gigas. Part grown Oysters (30-40mm) are sourced from the Channel Islands and relaid in the Fleet to grow to a marketable size. Please contact us for more information and prices.

Emma Goss-Custard started Honeybuns in 1998 when she was a student in Oxford. Trying to find a way to make some extra money, she used recipes handed down from her mother and grand-mother and set about making delicious cakes to supply to local businesses and café’s. She makes handmade, award winning gluten- and wheat-free cakes using locally and ethically sourced ingre-dients. The recipes are naturally free from gluten because they use polenta and ground nuts rather than wheat flour.

Liberty Fields are based in Halstock, Dorset where they have planted 1,600 apple trees on 12 acres of land on an organic dairy farm. After converting some derelict farm buildings they started to produce their new range of products, included the Apple Balsamic Vinegar which started being sold in 2012.
The sole ingredient in their products are apples, grown in their orchards and a handful of other orchards in Dorset and Somerset.

Rose. The sparkling Rosé wine has a lovely pale strawberry colour. Secondly, it’s fine and steady stream of bubbles, which opens up a deliciously fruity nose.

Between 2009 and 2010, 38,000 vines were planted on thirty acres (twelve hectares) among the undulating hills of the Dorset countryside, near the ancient Roman town of Dorchester. The vine-yard, Crawthorne Vineyard, is located on Jocks Hill surrounded by 2500 acres (over 1000 hec-tares) of the Langham families’ agricultural estate.
The vineyard is planted to the traditional Champagne varieties, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. These varieties have lent themselves to Southern England so well that English winer-ies over the last nine years have won more international awards for sparkling wine than any other country. Langham Wine Estate, unlike many other English wineries and Champagne houses will only pro-duce single Estate grown and made sparkling wines.

Black Cow Pure Milk Vodka, the world's first vodka made from pure cows milk and nothing else. Black Cow Vodka is the invention of West Dorset dairy farmer Jason Barber. His inspiration came from a desire to diversify the produce from his 250 strong dairy herd and his deep personal inter-est in vodka. The milk is separated into curds and whey. The curds are used to make cheese, the whey is fer-mented into a beer using a special yeast that converts the milk sugar into alcohol. This milk beer is then distilled and treated using a secret blending process. The vodka is then triple filtered and finished, before being hand bottled. Hildon Natural Mineral Water comes from deep beneath the chalk hills on the stunning Hildon Estate in Hampshire where it is still sourced and bottled. Dorset Ginger is a traditional alcohol-free ginger drink, based on a family recipe that has been handed down through the generations. Using a ginger essence produced especially for them, their drink is smooth with a warm ginger taste.
