The angle of the standard Gracey curettes.

Gracey curettesStandard Gracey curettes have a face angled at an average of 70° to the terminal shank. (See illustration at left). The working end (the blade) is rounded. Variations with longer shanks and shorter blades are used for procedures in deeper and narrower pockets, or for use in furcations. Gracey curettes are area specifi c. The operator needs a minimum number of instruments to opti-mise the effi ciency of the system.

The Double Gracey range is the latest innovation from American Eagle Instruments. Two instruments combined in one. This allows the operator to fol-low the Gracey technique, but with the economy of using universal curettes.

XP-Technology | Explanation

15,000 Strokes – 100 Times Greater WearIndependent studies have shown XP Technology to be a revolutionary technical advancement in the dental industry. Dr. Phillip A. Watson from the University of Toronto was able to prove the phenomenal wearability of instruments treated with XP Technology over the same instruments produced with the best available stainless steel.

Rockwell Hardness – 89 RcXP Technology is the integration of a super-hard alloy into the surface of stainless steel alloy. The surface becomes harder and durable. Standard instruments are produced from stainless- or carbon-steel, reaching a hardness value of 58 to 63 on the Rockwell scale. With XP technology, a hardness value of 89 is reached!XP instruments will therefore last far longer.

The development of the Double Gracey range is only possible because of XP Technology. The confi guration of Double Gracey instruments is very complicated. They are designed NOT to be sharpened.All Instruments with XP technology keep their edges so long, that the need for sharpening has been eliminated. After long use, they are replaced WITHOUT SHARPENING.

No more Sharpening!XP Technology is a patented process of surface engineering. The surface of the instrument is metallurgically hardened. This allows for the production of thinner instruments, with sharper edges. The unpopular procedure of sharpening is eliminated.

Gracey curettes are designed to adapt to specifi c anatomical areas of the teeth for sub-gingival scaling and root planing. The blade angle allows easier insertion into the sulcus while minimizing soft tissue trauma.
