Definition:

Genetic disorder caused by a triplication of genetic material corresponding to chromosome 21.

Down syndrome is called by the English

doctor John Langdon Down who in 1886 discovered a number

of common characteristics submitted by a particular group of

morons who had a similar appearance to the Eastern races, so it is

also known as mongolism.

Causes:

Families whose members have a single character of this syndrome.

Infectious diseases, psychic and moral crises in the first three months of pregnancy.
