This project will improve salmon maturation in the winter months and create a slow-water rearing habitat for young salmon in the spring months. • Phase one of the project was for acquisition of land with the intent to restore the site for salmon habitat. The City of Kent now owns the four parcels of land totaling 21.81 acres in the project area. The project is in the final design and permitting phase. • The next phase for restoration will create side channel rearing and refuge habitat for salmon--particularly juvenile Chinook salmon--that inhabit the Green River. Placement of wood in the river will create healthier conditions during different flow levels.
