Wedding Testimonials Ashkan & Hardeep Our Story Ashkan and I met through my best friend Priscilla in the second year of Uni. We all enjoyed a casual dinner together and things went from there. Eventually Ashkan and I began car pooling together from East Auckland to Uni, and the 45 minutes of traffic everyday, back and forth, brought us together. After dating for three years , Ashkan proposed to me on our anniversary. We went to the Carter Observatory in Wellington (and walked the path in the pouring rain!) and I thought it was magical. After the show, Ashkan had arranged for the stars to say, ‘Will you marry me?’ Our Langham Experience I called the Langham as my first choice. Having been to work functions there, I was always impressed with their hospitality. Melanie answered the phone and planning began. She put me in touch with Julie from Studio 100 and Louise from A Touch of Class, and they brought my vision of the night to reality with the centrepiece arrangements. Melanie helped orchestrate things seamlessly and customised everything I needed. The staff on the night were impeccable in terms of service, and helped create the most relaxed and enjoyable experience for all our guests, as well as ourselves. The food was delicious, from entrées to main to dessert - nothing could be faulted. Varun the Service Manager on the night, looked after Ashkan and I. Thanks to him, we managed to eat some food in all the madness of the night. The Langham must host hundreds of weddings a year, yet you feel like yours is exceptional - and that’s just what great five-star service should feel like! Our advice to other couples Don’t sweat the small stuff, have a vision and stick to it. Most importantly - enjoy yourself, sit back and take in the experience. It’s only one of the happiest days of your life and Langham certainly helps you celebrate.

Our Story Ashkan and I met through my best friend Priscilla in the second year of Uni. We all enjoyed a casual dinner together and things went from there. Eventually Ashkan and I began car pooling together from East Auckland to Uni, andthe 45 minutes of traffic everyday, back and forth, brought us together.

After dating for three years , Ashkan proposed to me on our anniversary. We went to the Carter Observatory inWellington (and walked the path in the pouring rain!) and I thought it was magical. After the show, Ashkan had arranged for the stars to say, ‘Will you marry me?’

Our Langham Experience I called the Langham as my first choice.

Most importantly - enjoy yourself, sit back and take inthe experience. It’s only one of the happiest days of your life and Langham certainly helps you celebrate.

Michelle & Marvin

Our StoryEveryone has a love story and this is ours (the Ng Chok’s) to share. Welcome to our journey to FOREVER. It definitely was not love at first sight when I had met Marvin at the University of Auckland almost ten years ago however, it was definitely the start of a friendship never to be forgotten. We studied together in our first year in Health Sciences. We were just friends who hung out with the same people. It was not till a few years later, Marvin and I had bumped into each other again and we decided to have dinner. And it just so happened we were both single at the time. From then on, we have been inseparable. I can truly say - he is one of a kind! Fast forward a year and a few months, and Marvin made the ultimate move to propose and make me his wife. I guess when you know, you just know, and you put your heart on the line for that special someone.

My fiancé Marvin proposed to me on the 25th October 2014 at Lake Taupo, New Zealand - exactly one year from the day he said: ‘I Love You’ in Taupo. And I’m sure like all other couples, I thought my proposal was the most romantic of them all! I was completely surprised after he organised a Couples Retreat in Taupo for us with close family and friends (who had also helped organise the whole proposal). Without hesitation, I said ‘YES’ and we were engaged. We called this ‘Our Halfway to Forever Journey’. We were on a mission to plan our dream wedding!

For as long as I can remember, when I first visited the Langham, Auckland some years ago, I envisioned that one day I would be married there. It was the timeless, elegant and sophisticated appeal that drew us to the Langham. Without doubt, prior to planning any details, we knew we wanted the Langham, Auckland to be our wedding venue.

Our Langham Experience “How do you spell ‘Love’?” said Piglet. “You don’t spell it…you Feel It! “ said Pooh. This is how we felt walking through the Langham doors on our Wedding Day on the 26th March, 2016.

Our experience at the Langham Auckland was nothing short of perfection. From the day we had our first consultation with our event manager Krystal to hours after our wedding day was over, the Langham team delivered an unparalleled experience that truly was unforgettable.

Most brides would definitely agree that planning a wedding can be one of the most stressful times of their lives. However, at The Langham, we always felt at ease and well taken care of.

We were honoured to have our Event Manager Krystal Ikitoelagi as the forefront of the wonderful Langham team, planning every minute detail of our wedding alongside us. She turned our fairy tale ideas about our wedding into reality. She definitely is one of a kind! From the exquisite food, attentive and thoughtful staff and the memorable experience they provided for us and our guests, words cannot express our gratitude to them for passionately fulfilling our vision.

The Langham Auckland truly was the epitome of ‘beautiful ‘and during our ‘Journey to Forever’ we developed an amazing unforgettable friendship with our Event Manager and the Langham staff. The Langham will always be memorable to us as the place where we started our ‘Forever After’.

Advice For Future CouplesThe advice we have to future couples is to make sure that regardless of what’s going on individually in your lives, whether this is planning your wedding, engagement etc., make sure you come together in the evenings and pray together, or just talk about your day.

We think communication is the key, and we feel, especially with social media and the internet, there’s a lot of distance between people. Make sure you make time for each other as often as you can.

While you are planning your wedding day, make time for each other by ensuring you have regular date nights where you can talk about anything other than wedding plans.

More importantly, remember to enjoy and have fun during the process of planning your wedding day, as it is an exciting and rewarding part of your journey with your significant other.

Every small detail, every drop of sweat, every tear as you make that extra effort to turn your dream wedding into reality will be well worth it on the day!

On your wedding day, be in the moment – RELAX, ENJOY and BE IN LOVE! This is only the beginning to your Journey to Forever.

Aditi & Abhishek

Our Story Our story begins more than a decade ago. We met through family friends in our early teens and as fate would have it, were destined to be more than just friends. Abhi proposed last year at the same restaurant that we had our first date at about 8 years ago. He recreated a beautiful memory which will always have a special place in our hearts.

We visited several venues before deciding on The Langham, Auckland. I have always wanted a Big Fat Indian Wedding which is timeless and elegant and The Langham was the perfect Auckland venue. The lobby, the ballroom, the suites and every part of the hotel echo an understated elegance and luxury with an old world charm to it.

Our Langham Experience Our experience at The Langham was perfection personified. We worked together with our Wedding Coordinator Melanie to organise a memorable Hindu wedding ceremony which had a touch of tradition and culture followed by an elegant reception. Both aspects of our day were very different and the two themes were executed by the Langham staff with finesse and strong attention to detail. We were given the freedom to design and organise the setting of our Mandap in the ballroom exactly the way we had imagined. The staff were polite and pleasant every time we visited the hotel to meet with our wedding co-ordinator.

There were unexpected little surprises that added to our delight, one of them being the exclusive bottle of champagne, chocolate torte and a personalised greeting card waiting for us in our suite after the celebration. Sometimes small gestures go a long way and we will always remember The Langham for its exceptional service and adding that personal touch to the whole experience.

We will forever remember our wedding day, which was everything we wanted and more. Our guests have constantly mentioned that our wedding was the best wedding they have ever attended with exquisite food, attentive service and an enormous amount of love and happiness present on the day. The combination of The Langham as a venue, our vision of the wedding and the work carried out by the decorators created an ambience which had an old world charm to it but with modern elegance. We will always be grateful to Melanie and the staff for their hard work and exceptional service.

Our advice to other couples As a recently married couple we would advise you to allow plenty of time to organise your wedding and not rush into making decisions. Enjoy every moment of planning your wedding, help each other out and remember to celebrate small milestones achieved along the way. Delegate tasks to your family and friends, as many as you want - you cannot manage everything yourself! This will help you on your big day as people close to you can manage the finer details while you can un-wind and enjoy the day. You may have disagreements with your partner during the planning phase, but remember that in marriage, one is always right - and the other one is the husband!

TIP: Finalise a venue as early as possible during the planning phase which fits with your vision and budget, as this will guide you and help you make decisions on other details of the event.
