THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER APRIL 18, 2021
My Dear Parishioners,
Praised be Jesus Christ! There is a beau ful passage of scripture that you might be familiar with found in Ecclesiastes Chapter 3. Its verses were made popular years ago by the music group The Byrds and the song Turn! Turn! Turn! It’s a great song, but even before it was put to music, the verses of that scripture were beau fully rhythmic. Even just reci ng them, one can find order, grace and peace. The words remind us that there is a me for everything under the sun. Which is refreshing news in our own mes which are disordered, sca ered, disturbing and turning!
All of this comes to mind as I write this week’s column. For over the past few weeks, our parish has lived through some intense mes. We’ve celebrated the climax of Jesus life: His Passion, Death and Resurrec on. We’ve marked those greatest of days on our Liturgical Calendar with great Solemnity. What’s more, we’ve welcomed new life into the Church with bap sms with more to come in the weeks, ahead. This coming weekend, we have First Communion, a Wedding and next week, Confirma on. It’s been a lot and on top of all this, we had the sudden loss of Deacon Jim Ellio .
Scripture tells us that there is a me for everything under the sun, but in our fallen world, (and yes, this world is fallen!) me runs together and o en crashes into itself, with many things happening at once! Such have been our mes. A strong reminder of our need for God, order and wisdom. How to live well in busy, full and intense mes?
The book of Ecclesiastes is can certainly help to answer that ques on if we read beyond chapter 3. It can also help to turn to the Saints, those men and women who lived in all sorts of fallen mes. Saints are those who learned how to live well. They are wisdom figures for us, witnesses that can teach us.
So in closing, I share a few words of wisdom from saints about me. May they be a benefit to all of us.
From Therese of Lisieux:
If I did not simply live from one moment to another, it would be impossible for me to be pa ent. But I only look at the present, I forget the past and I take good care not to forestall the future.
From St. Francis DeSales:
Do not look forward in fear to the changes in life: rather, look to them with full hope that as they arise, God whose very own you are, will lead you safely through all things;
and when you cannot stand it God will carry you in His arms.
Do not fear what may happen tomorrow; the same understanding Father who cares for you today will take care of you then and every day. He will either shield you from suffering or will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at Peace and put aside all anxious thoughts and imagina ons.
Peace,
Fr. Rogers

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from you.

The Lord is my shepherd: I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me be-side the s ll waters.
He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteous-ness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
They rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine ene-mies: thou anointest my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
And blessed is the fruit
Of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now,
And at the hour of our death.
Amen.

REQUEST FOR CATECHISTS
Looking forward to next September, the Parish Religious Educa-on Program (PREP) will be in need of catechists for our parish
children. When Jesus issued the invita on “Come follow me”, he was not speaking to disembodied spirits. He was speaking to real people like you and me. Please consider stepping in the foot-steps of his followers and become part of a most rewarding min-istry of teaching children to come and follow Jesus. It is also a great opportunity to make new friends from among the faculty of catechists. Adults and young persons 18 and older are invited to learn more about this ministry by contac ng Marianne Kane at 610-444-2214 or at her email at [email protected]. Being curious is a good thing!
