A 5 star cruise in northern Spain
Three decades ago it was born what is today the oldest tourist train in Spain: El Transcantábrico. What was then a gamble for a country that had never seen a train of these performance features and characteristics in operation, is now an in-ternationally renowned and consolidated product. After successive changes and improvements over its now long history, El Transcantábrico is today a true fi ve-star hotel on rails, with features and amenities that meet the most demanding expectations. In its saloons and suites the charm of trains reminiscent of the early 20th century is perfectly combined with the best comfort of the 21st century. Both in the train saloons and the distinguished restaurants throughout the tour, the gastronomy is the responsibility of the most renowned kitchens and chefs of northern Spain, an area already ranked among the best in Europe for the quality of its professionals and their raw materials. The pleasure of a superb cuisine is a "trademark" in all Renfe Tourist Train packages.
Saloon coachesEl Transcantábrico has the original 1923 Pullman coaches,
real gems of the historical railway heritage, specially decorated
for this luxury train. À la carte breakfasts are served daily in
these areas, as well as the fi ne cuisine prepared by our chef in
the dinners or lunches served on board. In addition, the coach
bar stays open permanently to serve customers who can also
enjoy other areas such as tea rooms, a panoramic coach or the
pub coach where parties, music or live performances are offered
every night.
