PROJECT 3
ART-‐2423 SPRING 16
Open the file provided, which is only a blank Master Page and its corresponding Page. Save your document as “Your Last Name_PROJ3_2423_SPG16.indd”. Load fonts provided in file also via Font Book. Just because you have Times New Roman or Century Gothic, it doesn’t necessarily mean we have the same file.
Note the text boxes are threaded in the Master Page. (See the liXle arrows on the boxes in the selected frames, aside from the big huge blue arrows I added in PowerPoint.)
Now work in Pages. Select the page and Override All Master Page Items.
In Pages, File : Place (DO NOT COPY PASTE FOR THIS PROJECT) the Word Doc in the box shown. GO TO NEXT SLIDE.

In Pages, File : Place (DO NOT COPY PASTE FOR THIS PROJECT) the Word Doc in the box shown. At the bo(om of the box asking for the file to be placed, check “Show Import Op>ons”. When box appears, do as shows below. It will strip the text of any MicrosoD Word styles and formaEng. GO TO NEXT SLIDE.
> The text will thread and cause lots of pages to appear. Don’t worry. > Then File : Place the Word Doc in the boIom leJ box. Same “Show Import Op`ons”, but it should default to your seangs now. This text will also thread independently of the top two boxes. Don’t worry. If your typeface doesn’t look like this, don’t worry. We’ll fix that.
Select Print Specs copy in the top box and copy. Then Select All of the copy in the top threaded boxes (Command + A) and delete. Paste and the Print Specs copy will appear. Then delete the Print Specs copy from the boXom box. You will see that you have lots of blank Pages now. So delete them! J If for some reason while you’re building, more blank pages appear while you build, remove them. WHY?
Now put the `tles in the `tle boxes. Be sure there is no space led. Type by hand the text in the top box.
Create a Paragraph Style en`tled “BULLETED TEXT”.

Select all text that is not a headline (not print specs or checklist) and apply BULLETED TEXT Style to it.
Next go through and remove bullets where necessary. We could create a separate Paragraph or Character Style, but not for this project.
To do this, select the lines (and blank lines) where the text is. Then Type : Bulleted and Numbered Lists : Remove Bullets. This will override the Style’s bullets, but not anything else.

First, adjust the boXom 2 boxes: > By hand, go through the text and use SOFT RETURNS (shid + Return) to clear any widows or orphans. All text should flow like the provided JPEG. > Also do all of my italicizing via Time New Roman Italics font (not Italic style in InDesign) and reduce text to 10 points – both to beXer control the read.
For the last sec`on defining the asterisks, do as follows: > All bullets should be removed from earlier step. If not, do it now. > All text should be 10 point Times New Roman Italic font. If not, do it now. > You will need to do Sod Returns between each so that the automated spacing is ignored. > Window : Type & Tables : Paragraph, adjust to tab in .25in. > Sod return any text so that it looks like the JPEG.
Bold PREFLIGHT and PACKAGE FILE in boXom 2 boxes with Times New Roman Bold font. Adjust anything in the top boxes so that they look like the JPEG.
Next create a Character Style and call it HEADLINE. Basic Character Formats: Century Gothic Bold, 11pt; 14pt leading; 200 tracking Character Color: 100% Cyan
Apply the Character Style to PRINT SPECS and CHECKLIST Now check over everything and make sure your checklist looks like the JPEG in your Project Sheet! If it does, you’re done building! J Be sure all files and prints are provided per deadlines. Also use this checklist on your Project 2 to check your work.
