New Carpeting for the Library Get those final hours of volunteering wrapped up for 2014-15 or get a jump start on 2015-16 by signing up to help with the re-carpeting project. This is going to take a lot of man-woman-
student power to move all the books and shelving out of the library to lay the new carpet. The tentative plan is to do this the last weeks of June. If you can help out, please send an email to Mrs. Ransom, [email protected]

We also want to thank Mrs. Skarin and Mrs. Saari for all their hard work to make it a double-double success! _______________________________
Paving the Parking Lot We had expressed hope that we could re-pave the parking lot over the Easter

We are happy to report that we are in progress on those items and that we anticipate the project to begin shortly after school lets out. We are very grateful for your support in providing the means to accomplish this! _______________________________

High School Jazz Band Earns Top Honors at Reno Jazz Festival The Brethren Christian High School (Huntington Beach)“8 O’ Clock Jazz Band” took first place honors in the small high schools division at the Reno
Jazz Festival on April 25. Brethren’s group earned a “superior” rating from all three of the adjudicators on the panel, the only band in the division to do so. The seven bands in the division were from small high schools from California, Nevada and Washington. Director Len Montgomery, in his 26th year of teaching at Brethren Christian, said, “It’s an honor to win the division. It’s really icing on the cake after hearing the kids play and seeing the way they came
together to take their performance to the next level.”
Begun in 1962 as a high school jazz band competition (the
inaugural featured eight high schools, one middle school and one college band), the Reno Jazz Festival is held annually on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno. This year’s festival featured over 300 performing ensembles ranging from middle schools to four-year colleges, and involved over 9,000 participants and 56 professional performers, clinicians and adjudicators.
