The main function of this division are as follows: Collection of Births and Deaths Statistics and analysis under the Civil Registration System, collection of Mortality Statistics from Government and Private hospitals and its implementation, conduct of National Sample Survey with the co-operation of NSSO and collection of statistics of Representation of SCs and STs in State Civil Services, Collection of Building Statistics under NBO - JNNURM.
I. CRS in Karnataka:
The Chief Registrar is the executive authority responsible for entire cork of registration and compilation of statistical report in the State.
The statistical data is collected in this division on monthly basis for the Rural and Urban Registration units from Tahsildars / Commissioners/ Chief Officers. Data collected in the Head Office are compiled and Annual Report will be prepared and submitted to the Central Government (R.G.India). Along with this S.M.R will be collected from the District Statistical Office in the prescribe format on monthly basis and compiled and submitted to the R.G.I.
II. MCCD:
The Medical Certification of Cause of Death is the system of collection of Mortality Statistics on Scientific basis in the country. This system has been introduced in the State since 1967 and has been included into the Births and Deaths act, 1969 in the year 1969. As per the section 10(2) and 10(3) of the Births & Deaths Act,
1969 provision has been made that, the physician who attended the deceased during his/her last illness, should issue a MCCD Certificate No 4/4A compulsory at free of cost.
The Mortality Statistics are being collected in this office in the prescribed form No 4/4A from the Hospitals/Nursing Homes on monthly basis and compiled and Annual Report will be brought out.

Conducting of National Sample Survey with the cooperation of NSSO, GOI. As per suggestions, instructions and acceptance obtained from the Steering Committee (official and non-official especially Education Experts and accompanied by Deputy General and CEO of NSSO of Central Government and State Government Officers) The survey was conducted on House Hold Consumer Expenditure, Employment and Un-Employment, Manufacture and Trade, Housing Conditions, Human Resources Development-Education, Literacy, Health, Morbidity, Disability, Live stocks, Village facilities etc.

As per the guidelines of NBO, data entry work of Building Statistics will be done on a quarterly basis by using the software BRIKS developed by NBO. There are 51 cities from class I & II and 22 towns from class III to VI were selected for collection of Building Statistics Under NBO.

NBO: Collection of Housing and Building Statistics, compilation and transmission is the main function of the N B O.
Statistics Collected from 51 cities of class I & II and 22 Towns from class III to VI will be computerised by using the software BRIKS developed by NBO.
