CHARACTERISTIC OF AN EMERGENT WRITER
Children have acquired considerable information about writing before they enter formal instruction. they have learned how to write naturally because ( gundlack, et.at 1985) familiar writing situation and real life writing experience are evident in the home environment as modeled by the parents and even by the other family members. There emergent writing is characterized by playful markings to communicate something which signals their knowledge of the uses of written language before learning the form .

“ Writing is always related to reading , thus reading is always connected to writing .” the child experimentation with writing allows him to construct and refine the kind of knowledge that makes reading possible.
this illustrates that a child is an active constructor of his/her writing and reading and he/she uses his/her previous knowledge to learn and discover new information.

STAGES OF WRITING DEVELOPMENT
Based on the result of a longer study about children’s early attempts to wring sulzby (1985) along with barnhart and heisima identified six broad categories of writing : 1)Writing via drawing 2)Writing via scribbling 3)Writing via making letter like forms 4)Writing via reproducing well –learned units 5)Writing via invented spelling and 6)Writing via conventional spelling.

Sulzby’s general description of early writing significantly helps parents and teachers to consciously observe and guide children’s writing.
However, it is important to note what Sulzby emphasized about these categories, that is, they are not necessary needs developmental or sequential invariant.

READING AND WRITING INDEPENDENCE
Cooper and kigger (2001)identified the five stages of early literacy learning which involve oral language ,reading and writing skills of children. this stages involve the following:
Early emergent literacy stage Emergent literacy stage Beginning reading and writing stage Almost fluent reading and writing stage Fluent reading and writing stage

Cooper and kiger (2001) provided the behavior and performance indicators of emergent learner in oral language reading and writing form the early stages as they depend on so much on literate adults who provide support and as they progress to achieve total independence in their learning .
