Download - Child labour at the Industrial Revolution
People who lived in the countryside moved to towns.
They were very poor and, because of that, children had to work in factories.
Some families shared house and lived in bad conditions.
Some people lived in workhouses.
They were very rich.
They employed children because they were cheaper and they didn't complain.
They were very cruel.
Orphans and poor and old people lived there.
They gave them food, work and a place to live.
Sometimes the treatment was very cruel.
Sometimes orphan children were picked up for working in the factories.
They started working very young.
They worked for many hours.
They worked in terrible conditions.
The factories were very far from their houses.
They were treated very badly.
Their salaries were very low.
They had physical problems when they grew up
They had also psycological problems.
Sometimes the owners employed them to work in mines, because they were very small and they could fit in the tunnels.
It was a dangerous work
Depending on the age they had different salaries.
