Biogas is created when natural
waste is decomposed.
Small bacteria create the biogas.
This process has been done by
nature for millions of years.
This is the product which the
biogas system produces.
First the material is collected in a pit
In the pit they mix the materials
The organic material is filled
into the pit
A mixer moves the organic
material so that the bacteria
can always work
The mixture is pumped in a bottle withthe bacteria.
The biogas, which has been produced, isburnt in an engine to produce electricityand heat.
Pro No fossil fuels are used
Renewable energy
Neutral CO2-production
Can produce both heat and
electricity
Synthetic fertiliser is saved by
using the bi-product of a
biogas-plant
Cons Cultivable land can no
longer be used to harvest
food
Price for farmland increases
and food can become more
expensive
high cost factor› frequent servicing › high wear and tear by sand and salt
› prevention of possible landslides or earthquakes
they start becoming worth after 5 -10 years → because of high costs, for the power plants and including necessary for dams
Disadvantages of tide plant
