• Host regional ‘pre-party’ prior to conference• Create opportunities for social interaction in-
person….card/sticker trading, vendor bingo, hospitality suite, ‘ignite’ (5 minute power points) sessions, xbox/Playstation, digital photo setup
• Former winners (scholarship?) act as mentors to new…can be set up online and continue…
• Crowdsourcing: Attendees self-define groups to gather at the event—you can provide a platform to organize groups, and maybe a place/time, but the idea people take it from there….

Teaching Social Media
• Schedule a workshop on social media, even if it’s not related to your conference
• Host ’10 minutes with an expert’ sessions during a reception or off-hours
• Use an online tool for registration, scheduling, meet-up, vendors….registrants learn by doing!
• Create a badge and ask people to share via their web or emails
