“Building The Body of Christ”
Msgr. Liam J. Kidney, Pastor Fr. Dennis P. Mongrain, Associate Pastor
Corpus Christi Volunteers Of The Year Carmen Kalberg, Eileen Huarte, Sharon Stevens, Judy Hatchett, Peter Dwan (not present)
Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 1, 2018
From the Pastor
My Dear Parishioners,
On Friday, June 22, we celebrated (Western Style) our Annual Vol-unteer Appreciation Party. The party was very well attended and there were lots of cowboy hats, boots, bandanas, and barbeque food.
We are so very fortunate to have over 300 engaged and talented volunteers, without whom we would simply not be able to serve our parishioners. The party is my chance to thank all of these wonderful people for their contributions to our parish.
My focus this year are those volunteers who represent in a special way what it is to live out their Baptismal call as a disciple in our par-ish community, usually behind the scenes.
We chose a volunteer from each of our five ministries, and we were excited to congratulate each of these winners:
From Pastoral Ministry, Judy Hatchett was chosen for her long-time commitment to our parish, working to build the body of Christ, often behind the scenes. Judy is an original member of our Bereavement Ministry and has been very involved in caring for those who are suffering a loss. She was also instrumental in bringing speak-ers to our parish to educate our community regarding End of Life Issues.
From Parish Administration, we chose Peter Dwan. He has worked behind the scenes in our parish for many years overseeing the financial stability of the church and school. He has been on the Fi-nance Council, the School Capital Improvement Fund Committee and others. Peter also serves in our church as a Eucharistic Minister and a Sacristan.
Eileen Huarte was the volunteer chosen for our Religious Education Ministry. Eileen has been a very dedicated 1st and 2nd grade teacher in our Religious Ed Program for 10 years. She has a special love for preparing children for their First Penance and First Communion sacraments. Her fellow religious education teachers have said, she is truly a woman who “walks the walk”.
Carmen Kallberg was chosen from the Liturgical Ministry. Carmen has been the head of our Lector Ministry for over 10 years. She is also a sacristan, a Eucharistic Minister, and a valued member of the Liturgical Planning Team. Carmen has her hand in many different areas of our parish life and is always the first to say, “Whatever you need, I’ll do”.
From our School, Sharon Stevens was chosen as a most valuable volunteer. Sharon volunteers countless hours to help raise money for the school to improve every child’s education. She started and helps to keep active our School Grandparents Group, and is the creative spirit behind the school bulletin boards and other campus beautifica-tion projects.
My sincere gratitude to these unsung heroes of our Church and the lifeblood of our ministries!!!
Siempre Adelante!
Monsignor Liam Kidney, Pastor

Corpus Christi Live Streaming Masses
We are very excited that Corpus Christi will be able to make our Sunday Mass available on the Parish website via live streaming! This means the experience of Mass will be available to our homebound parishioners and to anyone else who would like to view our Mass, but is unable to at-tend on Sunday. This new technology also presents an op-portunity for a volunteer position at Corpus Christi on the Sundays that we are recording the Mass. We are look-ing for someone to help make this a reality. If you are in-terested, please contact the Parish Office at 310- 454-1328, or by email at [email protected].
