Cosmetology
Students develop and practice basic
skills in hair, skin, and nail care, develop
a broad understanding of the variety of
career options available to a licensed
cosmetologist, and learn how science
and math are fundamental aspects of
the practice of cosmetology. This course
also provides the opportunity to further
refine and apply skills that support all
aspects of the cosmetology industry and
assists in preparing students to obtain
employment in the field of cosmetology.
Classroom and practical training empha-
size academic, technical, and workplace
skills through clinical application.
PRE: Algebra I
REC: Foundations of Art
Fees are approximately $240 for uniform and
books, $80 for state licensing exam, $180 State
Board Kit.
Students who successfully complete
Cosmetology II will also be awarded
1 science credit
The Cosmetology program is only offered
at the Cecil County School of Technology
(CCST). Students from the five county high
schools have the opportunity to begin the
program during their junior year by a des-
ignated application process. They will
complete the program during their senior
year.
This course is a three-semester program
which requires 1500 hours of instruction;
1000 of which must be earned by the end
of the junior year. All students are re-
quired to participate in a minimum of a
100 hour work-based learning experience
during the summer.
Students are encouraged to develop
positive work attitudes while building
individual skills for success.
Transportation is provided from the home
school to and from CCST. Program fees
include the cost of trade appropriate
clothing, tools, and license/certification
tests.
