Images OnlineYour library card allows you access to online resources through NC Live. NC Live offers a number of databases and tools for research, including CAMIO, which catalogs images all types of art.
To access CAMIO, look for the link under the C’s in the library’s database list. CAMIO lets you browse by type of art, or search for something specific. All of the images on this page came from CAMIO.

Thursdays 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Preschool stories, songs, and finger plays, followed by an art activity in the ArtQuest Studio. The storytime and the craft follow the same theme, ranging from shapes to trains, from ice cream to growing up.
Studio Plus

Fridays 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Painting in the ArtQuest Studio for kids of all ages (young children must be supervised). Previous projects include gadget painting (see below), bubble painting, and free painting.

Fridays 9:30 am – 10:15 am, Session repeats at 10:30 am – 11:15 am
Art exploration for kids of all ages (young children must be supervised). A variety of themes and techniques are explored.

As a part of Hemphill’s mission as the art branch of GPL, the library features a
selection of permanent and temporary art exhibits. The
permanent art is all around the building, and includes some
projects made during special library programs. The
temporary exhibits vary seasonally.

The ArtQuest Studio, located in the children’s department, is supported by our partners. In addition to housing special events, the studio is always open for young patrons to work on small projects independently.
