Dear Parents & Guardians,

Our bleacher project is near compleHon. Mahalo to our PTA for purchasing the three new bleacher sets and for hiring a contractor to assemble. The final step will be the installaHon of a heavy duty canopy system covering all bleachers.
Another upcoming project this summer involves the complete re-‐Hling of the Learning Lab (Library). This will entail removing every item out of the Learning Lab to be temporarily stored in a container unHl the flooring work is complete. So, our Learning Lab will close operaHons in late April in order to begin the laborious task of moving house. Another summer project involves the reroofing of building “B”. We will again present a 4 week Pre-‐K Summer Program for all incoming and enrolled 2018-‐19 Kindergartners. This past summer was the first ever such program and was very well received by parents, students and staff. We highly encourage parents to enroll their Kindergartener in this high value program. Doing so will help to ensure a great school start for your li_le one.

Super Bees Compete at Robotics Event at HCC Students in the EdVenture Competitive VEX Robotics class recently participated in their first competition. Team members Mukan Helms, Sofya Helms, and Nathan Ragasa attended the all day event along with their Instructor, Joel Paye. Also competing in the event were Chanden Aguiar-Chartrand, Louis Perroy, and Hawaii Iokepa - representing Cub Scout Troop 52. Jake Tokuuke was also there representing his team from the Hawaii Science and Technology Museum.
Teams of 2-4 students were tasked to complete 3 different challenges and were able to attempt each challenge in any order. Challenges were designed to be easy, fair and difficult. The overall intent of the event was to have team members learn by competing in the coding tasks needed to solve the challenges. And, although the challenges may have presented struggles for the students, they were able to walk away with valuable knowledge that can help them at future robotics competitions.

Consider the PTA Board
One of the best examples of being an active member of our school community and shaping students’ learning experience on campus is through the PTA Board. Please consider lending your time and talents to such a worthy cause. If you are interested in serving on the PTA Board next school year, please contact current President, Patti-Taira Tokuuke, Mr. O’Brien or Cecily Nago, PCNC.
