SIMEAS TDigital Transducer
The SIMEAS T universal transducer allowsmeasurement of all electrical quantities oc-curring in any network in a single unit. Es-
pecially in power plants and substationstransducers are used for isolation of elec-trical signals and for further processing ofmeasured values. Any desired measuredvalue (current, voltage, active power, fre-quency, etc.) can be assigned to each of the3 analog outputs, as well as any desiredmeasuring range.
The output signal (e.g. -10 to 0 to 10 mA, 20 mA, 4 to 20 A, 0 to 10 V, etc.) can befreely parameterized for every outputchannel. The binary output can be used asa kWh meter to register the energy or as a
limit monitor.Input currents up to max. 10 A or inputvoltages up to 600 V with rated frequenciesof 16 2/3, 50 or 60 Hz can be connected.
The SIMEAS T is available with anRS232 or an RS485 interface. The devicecan be installed for operation on anIEC 60870-5-103 bus.
The unit can be reparameterized with theSIMEAS T PAR software package.
SIMEAS T PAR - Parameterization soft-wareSlMEAS T digital transducers with
RS232 or RS485 interface can beparameterized or calibrated with the PCsoftware SIMEAS T PAR. The measuredquantities can be displayed online on thePC via a graphical meter or can be re-corded and stored over a period of up toone week. The SIMEAS T PAR softwareenables the self-parameterization of thedigital transducer according to the de-sired parameter setting.
SIMEAS T EVAL - Evaluation softwareUsing the SIMEAS T EVAL evaluationsoftware, the previously stored valueswith SIMEAS T PAR can be edited, eval-uated and printed in the form of agraphic or table.

RS232 andRS485 SIMEAS T transducerwithinterface acc.to IEC 60870-5-103
In terms of their design, method of con-nection and technical data, the transducerswith an RS485 interface are identical to thestandard units with an RS232 interface. In-stead of the RS232 interface, however, aninterface conforming to EAI RS485 isinstalled for operation on anIEC 60870-5-103 bus. Thus, the transduc-ers are bus-compatible and, as shown in
the examples, can be networked.
Bus operation does not have an influenceon the output of analog measured quanti-ties via the analog outputs. The units areparameterized with the SIMEAS T PARsoftware.

The transducers do not contain any me-chanical setting controls. This is why theunits must be adjusted for their tasks usinga PC or a notebook, the SIMEAS T PARsoftware and the RS232/RS485 converterprior to use on the bus. To this end, thetransducer must be connected to auxiliarypower and the RS232/RS485 converter bymeans of the included plug-in power sup-ply unit.
The following are parameterized:
Bus address: 1 to 254
Baud rate: 2400, 4800, 9600 or 19200 bits/s
Basic parameters: mains type, mains frequency, instrumenttransformer data
Bus mode: acc. to IEC 60870-5-103,with 9 or 16 measured values
Analog outputs: same as standard units (if required)
Binary output: same as standard units (if required)

Parameterization software
Description
By means of the SIMEAS T PAR software,SIMEAS T transducers with an RS232 oran RS485 interface can be parameterized orcalibrated swiftly and easily. Measuredquantities can be displayed on the PC on-line via a graphical meter or can be re-corded and stored over a period of up toone week.
Generally, all the transducers are alreadycalibrated and factory set when delivered.
Recalibration of the transducers is nor-mally only necessary after repairs or in theevent of readjustment.
Features
Extremely simple and straightforwardoperation
Storage of parameterization data under auser-defined name even without thetransducer
Parameters are sent to transducers evenafter installation on the site
A parameterization list with the specific
connection diagram of the transducercan be printed
A self-adhesive data plate can be printedand fixed to the transducer, including apossibility of entering three lines of textcontaining the name and location etc.
Parameterization serves to set the trans-ducer to the required measured quantities, measuring ranges and output signals etc.Users are able to parameterize the trans-ducer themselves in only a few steps.
Communication
Communication with the transducer isachieved by means of a connecting cable(optionally available) connected via the in-terface that is available on every PC or lap-top. For units with an RS232 interface, usethe connecting cable 7KG6051-8BA or, forunits featuring an RS485 interface, use theconverter 7KG6051-8Ex. Three mutuallyindependent program sections can becalled up.
Reading out data
With graphical instruments, all measuredquantities calculated in the transducer andpower quantities can be displayed onlineon a PC or laptop, and either in analog ordigital form.
To improve the resolution of the graphics, users can freely choose the number of in-struments on the screen and can freely as-sign the measured quantity and measuringrange.
These are selected and assigned independ-ently of the units analog outputs.
Displayedmeasured valuescan be stored, printed or recorded for theSIMEAS T EVALevaluationsoftware.

With a PC or a notebook and theSIMEAS T PAR software installed on it, upto 25 measured quantities can be displayedand recorded online with the SIMEAS Tdigital transducer. A maximum of oneweek can be recorded. Every second, onecomplete set of measured values is re-corded with time information. The com-plete recording can then be saved under achosen name.
Using the SIMEAS T EVAL evaluation
software, the stored values can be edited, evaluated and printed in the form of agraphic or a table.
Features
Automatic diagram marking
Graphic or tabular representation
Sampling frequency: 1 s
A measured value from the table can bedragged to the graphic by simply right-clicking on it
Add your own text to graphics
Select measured quantities and the mea-
suring range
Easy zooming with automatic adaptionof the diagram captions on the X and Yaxes
Up to 8 cursors can be set or moved any-where
Tabular online display of the chosencursor positions with values and times
Characteristics can be placed over oneanother for improved analysis
The sequence of displayed measuredquantities can be selected and modified
The complete recording or edited
