Leistritz shows strength in plant engineering
German Leistritz Extrusionstechnik GmbH will demonstrate its competence as system supplier
at the Interplastica 2017 in Moscow
Nuremberg (December 2016) – „Turn-key extrusion plants and Industry 4.0 are the two main
topics which we will put in focus on this year’s Interplastica,“ explains Sven Wolf, Managing
director of German based Leistritz Extrusionstechnik GmbH. “ We have long ceased to be
only a extruder manufacturer. We provide our customers with the whole plant, including
integrated Industry 4.0 solutions. Everybody interested can see the approaches we pursue in
this field at our stand in hall 2.2/C40. In this context, this year we are also emphasizing our
plant service.”
Interactive large scale plant
What does the setup of a large scale extrusion plant look like? Which components are there
and how do they work? All visitors of the Leistritz stand will have the opportunity to explore
such an extrusion line in detail by means of a virtual tour. For this purpose, various line set-
ups for different applications can be experienced as 3D animations on touchscreens. Videos
and further information are provided at the most important process steps. „The highlight is a
large-scale compounding line for PP stabilization which we designed, setup in Kazakhstan and
now will present in augmented reality,“ says Wolf. With 3D glasses one can experience how
the raw polymer powder that comes out of the reactor is transported in a nitrogen atmos-
phere over a distance of approximately 350 meters to the extruder where it is stabilized
against autoxidation.
Industry 4.0
„Industry 4.0 is a bunch of activities which bring machines closer to the digital world, so that
they are connected,“ says Sven Wolf. „This starts from smart sensors and smart controls, all
the way to smart processes. How this was realized in a plant, everyone interested can see
exemplified in the large scale plant mentioned above: By means of the inserted sensor tech-

nology the process sequence can be forecast. Based on this forecast, the required settings
can be adjusted in order to keep the specified material quality at a constant level. “It is very
important to be able to readjust deviations“, explains Wolf. “For us, Industry 4.0 does not
only imply connecting machines. It must take the product quality to another level and ulti-
mately provide evident advantages for the operator. We are looking forward to providing the
Interplastica visitors with comprehensive information on these topics.”
